Censorship
I got a phone call yesterday from BBSA (Dr. Oldham and Weiss' Office) telling me that I needed to quit saying that their aftercare sucked. That, Dr. Weiss may not have been the nicest to me but that I was throwing off on their PAs and ARNPs when I said their aftercare sucked. I still like Tracy even though she is the one that made the call to me, but it shouldn't have taken her 7 months to find a leak.
I was also told a patient from OH had brought my post to them. I didn't mind that they did, I was actually glad that they know how I feel about the doctors.
I have not been told that freedom of speech has been revoked but apparently they think it has been. I guess this just gives me more reason to say they suck big time and will continue to say so on OH and any where I get the opportunity to say it.
Note: Dr. Weiss and Oldham are excellent surgeons but their after care sucks, you are treated by either an ARNP or a PA afterwards and never see a doctor again unless you have complications. I am not saying the PAs and ARNPs are not good but you are paying for a doctor and you know they did pocket that $500 co-pay we all paid.
I wasn't really bitter about this until the phone call, but I really do not appreciate people telling me what I said and what I meant and what I shouldn't say.

Hi Jacqueline,
I guess not many people are going to touch on this but I will. You have every right to voice how your experience was w/ any doctor. A lot of people come to these boards not only to inquire about particular surgeries but also to ask about surgeons, too. You are not the first one I've ever saw on here ranting. Thank you for keeping things real.
Wonder who the "tattle-tale" is? lol For lack of a better word!
Take care,
Katrina

I really don't care could be several but there is one I suspect. Lots of people have touched this just not on this board. I frequent two private boards, one which has several of their patients on it. Truth is they are losing patients right and left and won't admit it.
You are right people do come on here to find out about the doctor but what a lot of people do not realize is that in some offices the doctor never sees you again and that happens to be the case in this one. I liked the PA that I saw but she is no doctor, I am sure she is better at fills than the doctor is because she does them all the time, but I can say she sure isn't as good as Sonnanstine is.

There is still freedom of speech but in theory what you did is what can be considered as slander. Does is sucks you cannot speak your opinion openly...yes. In the future I would suggest you do offer you opinion in a pm rather than openly. In such a world that we live in now its better just to be more private on some matters. I know there are several of us that used to post on here on a regular basis and so many people slammed our "clique" that we have now had to go to a private forum to support each other. Sad...yes...but now we can be more free about our struggles and obsticles.
I do not plan on being quite about what they said to me and what happened to me. I will say they are good surgeons but that is it. Slander is when you tell something that is not true and enough people have posted about the aftercare that people have to know it is not just me.
Sorry, but I am not going to quit telling when asked my experience.

Legal definition of slander; Slander is an act of communication that causes someone to be shamed, ridiculed, held in contempt, lowered in the estimation of the community, or to lose employment status or earnings or otherwise suffer a damaged reputation. Slander is a subcategory of defamation
Jacqueline...just be prepared to back up your statements with proof not hearsay if they should take actions against you. They have covered their bases and given you verbal warning. There have been others that have tried this with other Drs and found out the hard way. Not trying to start anything...just want you to be aware what can and may happen is all. You are an adult so I am sure you have hopefully thought this all through and are aware of the repercussions.

I can back up the care I received I had to have my port replaced due to their incompetence and it was one of the ARNP's that punctured my port. She was not calling even from the office she took it upon herself to call me from her personal phone. But I can prove what happened to me and that is all I can go by and report.

Good for you for being honest about the care you recieved from them. It helps people who are thinking about having surgery. Making decisions like this can be difficult and we want all the information, the good, bad and the ugly.
perhaps the woman that contacted you should have asked for your suggestions in improving their program rather than attempting to shut you up

I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you. Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information. Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

I realize that I seem to be in the minority here, but I have truly had a wonderful experience with BBSA, particularly with Dr. Oldham in Louisville. To be quite honest, I was a little skeptical about selecting him as a surgeon and using BBSA particularly because of what I heard on this forum about BBSA being a surgery mill and that you never see him for follow up appointments, etc. However, my skepticism was BEFORE I met him.
I had my RNY surgery with him on July 20, was hospitalized for four days. Each day, he visited/checked in on me at least 2-3 times. I recently (this week) had a complication and Dr. Oldham has been wonderful. I have seen him each time I've gone in because that is what I feel comfortable with. I really cannot say enough about him. I trust him with my life.
I am so sorry that some of you have had such a bad experience.
