That's what I get... where was Dr. Shina today?
Ok - I have been away from my house and home phone for almost a week, staying here in Louisville with relatives and awaiting my Aug. 4 appt. with Dr. Shina for a checkup. So today I run through the rain to my car and drive toward my appt. at Suburban and meet up with a road closed due to the rain or tree down or something or other. As I call Dr. Shina's office to explain why I would be a little late to my 2:30 PM appt. today I get their answering service and they inform me that his office is closed today. So I guess I'm grateful the road was closed which would have made me late which prevented me from driving all the way to Suburban from Anchorage - but wonder what happened to Dr. Shina today? I bet there is a phone message on my answering machine home in Tompkinsville that stated he needed to reschedule patients for that day.....
In the meantime there is SHOPPING! And old friends to see... and family... and tomorrow I will call Dr. Shina's office and find out what's going on. UNLESS... someone *****ads this knows what's going on and can tell me? I'm not mad, just disappointed. That's what I get for not calling ahead and confirming after being away from home so long. I wanted to see how I was doing on my first bloodwork/labs since my December RNY. It'll wait til next time. Hi to everyone - I have been addicted to Farm Town on Facebook and haven't visited here often lately. Hope everyone is still moving down the scale and feeling happier and healthier every day! :-) Hugs

Hi Cindy:
If Dr. Shina lives in Indiana, he may have gotten flooded or unable to get to the office. We had so much rain, that our road was flooded all the way to 111. There wasn't any way I could get to 111, which means I didn't get into work. Maybe he had flooding at home, or was stuck himself somewhere in Indiana? Perhaps his Indiana office was flooded or the Charlestown facility where he works was flooded? There was too much rain in Indiana in 1 hour and it was really bad.
I'm glad to hear you are doing well and have lost so much weight! Congratulations! Keep up the great work!
Hugs,
Vera-Ellen
New Albany, Indiana where 6 inches of rain fell in an hour! Talk about a flood!

Thanks! That's probably what it was and they probably called my home phone to let me know but I wasn't there. I'm still in Louisville staying with relatives - we were here for visit that I just happened to time near my appointment - trying to kill two birds with one stone as they say. lol Anyway I haven't been listening to the news much since being here - at home I would have had the news on constantly because I'm kind of a news hound. I have really been "getting away from it all" while here!
I will call his office and reschedule - I've just been a lazy bones today and haven't done a thing except get online and get a bath. A jacuzzi bath! What a luxury - I love staying at my brother's house for other reasons than just the jacuzzi bath, but that rates highly! LOL
I hope all the water problems are gone by now and that there's not much property damage for you guys!

Mystery solved - Dr. Shina was at Suburban just as scheduled. It turns out the answering service got their wires crossed and told me that the office was closed and that was incorrect. It was only the Indiana office that was closed - the Suburban staff was there and waiting for me. Sadly, I could have gone to my appointment had I not been misinformed.
But the good news is I was able to get squeezed into a 4 PM appointment in Jeffersonville, Indiana yesterday (Wednesday) and I was able to see Dr. Shina while I was here in Louisville after all! :-) We got everything straightened out and my labs were great! No nutritional deficiencies at all - I was thrilled! Everything worked out so smoothly Wednesday - from getting my appointment worked in to finding my college bound daughter's computer laptop backpack at the Oxmoor Mall later. (That had been a long pursuit and she found the one she wanted finally.) Today we're headed home to Tompkinsville after a week of Louisville and all the excitement that comes with being with my brother's family and my parents. I'm glad to be headed back to little ole' Tompkinsville and my own messy digs, but sad to be leaving "the Ville" too. LOL
Bye for now, Cindy
