DR JOHN OLDHAM
My experience with BBSA is very dramatic and I wouldn't want anyone of my family members or friends to use them. Although I think the doctors are like a surgery mill, I have to say they are very good. The PAs and ARNPs are a different story. My por****ured at around month 4 after my lapband surgery and it took them 7, yes I said SEVEN, months to figure it out when I kept telling them. I also was under the impression they were measuring my fluid each time I went and they were not. I really liked the PA that I was seeing, but I have learned so much since I had to have my port replaced by Dr. Weiss and then left that practice. I have also lost a total of 25 lbs since I have been seeing Dr. Sonnanstine in G-town. I managed to keep off a total of 7 lbs in almost a year with Dr. W and O. The negative stuff did not start until they left G-town but it did not come from G-town, it came from the patients when they finally learned how most offices work and that the program fee does not go for what you are told it does.
I also think it is sinful that they charged me to replace my port although it was their office staff that punctured it.
I am thankful that I was persistent with what was I going to do since I couldn't lose weight with the band; they finally decided there was something wrong. It made me feel like crap that I was doing all the right things and was not losing the weight. Actually, what got them on the ball was I asked the PA at what point did I give up on the band and go to Dr. Husted for a DS. I had 17 fills in 10 months which all but 4 were a waste of money. Once again I had to pay for all these, too. Yes, my insurance covered some of it but not all of it and when you consider I was traveling 3.5 hours one way to see them and this was last year when gas was so darn high. I wasted a lot of money with their office that had I gone to someone else to start with would not have been wasted.
Just know that the doctors are great and good surgeons, although I think they are spreading themselves too thin, but the aftercare is very lacking, IMO. I never got the support at BBSA that I get from Dr. Sonnanstine. He really does care about his patients.

I have used Dr. Oldham and Dr. Weiss. yes it's true that they don't see you after surgery, but their Pas are very good. In the almost 8 months since my surgery I have done well and am VERY pleased with my results. I started out at 246 lbs wearing a size 22/20 and now I am currently 149.4 and wear a lovely size 6. I'm sorry that some of you have had such negative experiences, but I for one am pleased with my results. The only thing that I would change is for them to see you at least some point after the surgery, but hey that seems to be the way they like to handle their practice. Good luck to you in whatever you choose to do
