Tristate Surgical Weight Loss Center

I just wanted to let everyone  *****ad the FALSE information submitted by Brenda, Tristate is not closing. I just got off the phone with the office manager and was assured that the center was not going anywhere but up! She said they are working on getting some more programs up and running and they are very excited about all of the changes. I personally think the non surgical weight loss program will be very helpfull to patients who have to do the so many months of weight loss supervised by a Dr. I think the nutritionist there are wonderfull along with the other staff. So just know they are not going anywhere they are full steam ahead to even bigger and better things. I would sugest if you have any questions or concerns you should call the office, especially before anyone post anymore false information!!! The number is 859-212-GOAL! I think you will be pleased with the prompt friendly service you get from all of their staff!!!

well I should have gone into more detail as this is what I heard.  (from someone inside the center)
The office staff has been offered jobs within the hospital and that the center was no longer going to be offereing WLS but rather medical weight loss instead.  The nutritionist who work there now will be involved in the weight loss program.  so not sure about all the changes ( this is again, what I have heard from the inside)..I do not want anyone (patient ) to get caught up in the middle as I have seen this happen two times at Deaconss (which by the way is closed) as well as another center in W.Virginia.  I hope if you are signed up for surgery they will pull you through the process....I guess my quesion would be how would you be followed,  would you be incorporated into the new medical weight loss program and if a surgeon would be following through.??
As always they don't tell us all the info until it's done and of course don't open the doors to explain more later.
But time will tell...I don't see it as a big loss really..so no reason to panic..

Brenda, I was just getting ready to reply to this post then saw yours.  I heard the same story today as I went to lunch with my sister in law.   She hears a lot of the inside scoop working in administration at St. E.  

I saw some chatter about this on a WLS board on another site tonight.  thought I might find out more here.  I tend to believe Brenda, some how she always gets the inside scoop.  Like she said, time will tell..let's just wait and see what happens..  I also agree it's not a big deal now that Dr. Tom is gone. 

I too heard the same story Brenda tells from a staff member.  No big deal.  Just wait and see.  I was at the new office twice last week and it was dark and no patients where there.  Maybe they are just re grouping.  Good luck to those that have made the decision to start their journey.  It is a been a wonderful experience.  So Glad to have Dr. Tom.  Glad he is only an hour away. 

Well I myself contacted the 'bigman on campus' who assured me the  center is not going anywhere. He said the hospital has put alot of funds into that center and they intend to make it grow and succeed. They still have two surgeons, who are just seeig patients upstairs who are now the medical directers of the center. All of the pre op and post op care done by the other providers are done in the center. You mut also realize the vascaular institute is also in that space so some of the people in the office you hear talking may not even be tristate staff. The non surgica aproach is not replacing the surgical its just going to be ye another great service offered by them. When I was in the office two weeks ago there were 4 people there shedling surgery. It seems to me like they are doing alt of surgeries and plan on continuing to do so. I think it is just rumors flying and just hear say. I dont think any of the staff members would tell you the center is closing , I know them all prtty well, and a s for the administration I dont think they wud either. I am pretty sure if someone from administration was saying stuff like that they wuld most lkely lose their jobs. It would not be hard to find out either. If it is a sister in law to someone here they could figure out who that was. I think everyne shold just sit back and watch the center blossom even more. You sound more like a staff member or hospital employee or very involved in the surgical group knowing about the vascular institute ..medical directors etc..etc...so maybe you know more....Oh well, as we have all said, time will tell the story.  I hope for the patients sake we are all wrong...
I do know when a center in another area closed, it happened very quickly without notice to anyone. Especially the patients.  Employees were given little notice as well.  But it seems there is always someone willing to gossip from within.  shame on them.  Let's just wait and see.

Well my job is safe I work for our family owned construction company and I know we are not shutting down buisness. But thanks for caring! And I am with you on the shame on the staff who is gossiping, shame on them. I know I will continue to stay there I dont beleive they are going anywhere and I entend to stay there. Hopefully all the patients feel the same. Good luck to all!

Well....just my 2 cents.... and believe me...thats ALL its worth!!
I was just in there yesterday!! I have gotten to know them all VERY well as today is my 6 months and I am JUST getting to where I dont have to go in every week basically...The staff there is AWESOME!
But.... I spoke with them yesterday because I too have been wondering and they are still there and not going anywhere....
Brown and Moon are taking over and Brown I believe is actually the medical director now. I am not sure what is going on with them not seeing the patients down in that office yet??? I was in seeing the NUT yesterday, but I go back to Brown on the 18th and will go upstairs to his office...so I guess they are still working that out, but as far as I am told they arent going anywhere!! LOVE them!!

Do you know what is happening with Dr. Smith? I am scheduled for Sept. with him, I know they told me all my appts. are in the Florence office.  I do like him too.
