KEEPIN IT REAL??? (kinda long)

I have been on this site since deciding to have bariatric surgery.  It has been an enjoyable journey.  I have loss over 70% of my excess weight and have been battling, struggling whatever you call it to get it off and keep it off.  This is not to discourage newbies but it's just the real deal.  It is easy to relax, but don't.

Have I caused the weight loss stall.   Well Yeah!!!!

My point is that in the beginning, I exercised some and on most occasions I did not eat normal.  I would lose good when my calories were between 800 to 1,000.  That really did not last long, I would become too hungry and make bad food choices. Balance is the key and sometimes I misplaced it.

Some people exert little effort and lose, probably they did not really need weight loss surgery.  For me, I would not have lost this much weight or kept it off this long without the surgery but when you hear it is only a tool, don't discount that statement.
It is a tool that if mishandled does not work.  The best thing I can say right now is that more people need to keep it real, tell it like it is.  I am sure many of us have started picking up our old bad habits but don't tell or warn others this is happening to us until the scale starts making the numbers go in the wrong direction.  The reason some don't tell is they don't want to discourage but it's not discouraging its helpful so that ones KNOW  it can happen.   Stop the maddness as soon as possible, seek intervention, keep it real, get back on track.   We are here to help one another.  Be sure to offer help because...... one day you could be the one with the lying scale.
This is Z in Kentucky, loving my band, still trying to lose anniversary cruise gain in February,  not much but any gain is too much for me.  Just keepin it real.

This is a really good post Z.

I had the RNY Gastric Bypass. It will be 9 months since Ihave had it. The loss is slowing up and I can tell differences in week to week with what I eat or don't eat. And the way the scale goes up and down. So yes you do have to work your tool.

Which ever surgery you have had or plan on having you have to work with it. It will not do everything for you, that you would like it to.

Z,  this is a very true post.  Keeping it real.  I am not one of those that will lose without exercise either and I have to remember my tool and use it ALL the time and not just when I want to.

Thanks for posting and the words of encouragement.

I am only giving back to the wls community a little of what it's given me.  Over eating is different from drug abuse on because it is not illegal.  This is a journey that will take all of us and God.  Not going religious on you but you know its true.  Z

I appreciate your honesty.  It's important that we all speak this way so newbies will be able to make their decisions about surgery.  I know I am grateful for the people of all surgery types who gave me the good, bad and the ugly so I could make up my mind.  Best wishes to keep with your goal, you have already beaten the odds girl and are doing great, keep it up!
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

Z- you are a woman after my own heart! I do luv ya!  I  am a prime example of what you are talking about! I have shyed away from the board because I have slipped back into emotional eating, and was giving up on myself and my tool.  I went to see my Dr last week and he gave me a fill. I had gone from my lowest in this journey (299.7) up to a whopping 309.5 as of last Thursday!  I was ashamed of myself and my "failure".  I have rallied up my support group and after the past week of putting 100% back into it....I AM DOWN TO 297.5...yep...you heard me!!!!!  I got my protein in...my fluids in...and tried to move each day.  My word for exercise.  I have restored faith in myself and my band am now doing what I can to de-stress my life, eat right, and get those fluids in! And no...soda does not count as a fluid!  RNY and Bandsters...most of you were told its a no no....trust me....once you get that restriction and hit that sweet spot...it is a definite no no....lol.....yes..I was even having a soda 2-3 times a week.  This band will work if I work it. Yours will too! BUT...you have to eat the right food, drink tha****er, and try to move each day. I even have weights now next to my bed to use while I watch the news each night to try to deflate my bat wings!  Hubby hates the bed moving so I actually get to watch it alone for 1/2 hr and have some peace and solitude! A plus for me!  So work the tool...whatever it is!  If you stumble...shout out for us...we will help to pick you up and help hold ya up! That's what its all about!

EXCELLENT POST LADIES!!!!

This is a hard emotional journey for me. I was loosing so consistantly, then all the sudden nothing.... But i have to say..MY FAULT! We had company, kids are out of school, I'm out of my routine, etc..etc.., I've done the emtional eating...stress eating...CHOCOLATE eating!! I'm a kind of ALL or NOTHING girl, which I think hurts me... cause when I have one bad choice.... well heck... I've allready had that so why not eat crap the rest of the day... it's a cycle. I need to learn more Moderation...
The last two months have been so difficult for me. I'm trying day by day to get back to exercising, eating right, and staying away from CANDY ...( M&M's)  I'm also trying, that if I make a slip... STOP RIGHT THERE... don't sabatoge the rest of the day as well.
I appreciate you ladies here on the board, I love coming on here for support or to give support!!
Thanks for being here.

Sandi, you are appreciated too.  It seems the last 30 is the hardest to lose.  I have been trying for wayyyyy too long.  It's because I get kinda satisfied with people telling me how much better I look.  But I know it's not where I need to be to have room for error.  Candy is a bad demon for me too.  Thank you for your support.  Z
