Good afternoon. I went last Tuesday for the one day appointment and to meet with the surgeon and then they tell me I am having surgery tomorrow. Any thoughts from anyone? I am a revision and I want to learn as much as I can about RNY so I came to this forum. Thank you all for any input!

You might also try the RnY message board to get information on your new procedure, qhorsegal.

Are you using Weiss and Oldham for your revision or are you going to another doctor?  W and O do some surgeries in Georgetown, Lexington at the Central Baptist Hospital, Mayfield and several other locations across the state but I don't know which facilities they use for revisions.

Good luck tomorrow with your new RnY!

Good luck with your revision.  Who is doing it?  Did you have problems with the band or just not lose like  you wanted to?  I think I noticed you had yours after I had mine and I have had problems, but my port was leaking and Weiss replaced in on June 11th.  But I was and it is still not out of the picture thinking about a revision.

Morning. Dr. Weiss did the band and is doing the revision today. I hate the band, it just seems to me the food is backed up your throat and you are still hungry. I lost 16 pounds and have gained it back since I had the band drained. There is noway I can live with the band so I hope I am making the right choice with RNY.

Please know the RNY has failed most people.  Go for the Gold and do the DS with Dr. Husted!  Read the facts first.  I had the RNY and couldn't believe how many people have not been able to lose all their weight.  The stoma stretched out, the pouch stretches out and you can eat like you did before, I did and look on the forums for rny revisions.  You won't find anybody who is unhappy with the DS...I really tried to and could not.  The lapband or RNY is just not good surgeries long term out.  You end up gaining it all back or not losing as you wished.  Just read and you will see.

personally I resent that statement as it's not the surgery that fails most people..the people fail themselves, there comes a time when you must take responsibility for keeping your weight off ans eating healthy.  I don't like to see people blame the docs or the surgery and take no responsibility!!!  I know many more successful stories than not!!

I agree about the RNY. I had surgery almost 3yrs ago and have put back on almost 70lbs., and I never did reach the goal weight set for me. If you're what some call a "light-weight" (meaning you weigh less than 300lbs.) the RNY may do you well. Just be sure to read all the facts like the previous poster wrote, because you definitely want to make the right decision for yourself.
Good luck and God bless you on you revision for a happy healthy you!
