Surgery in Georgetown?????
I sent Dr. Sonnanstine a note about this and ask for his first surgery date as well as stats since he has been in Georgetown. This morning he ran his stats and sent those to me via email. Hope this helps.

Hello there littlepenny. Well of course these figures can be verified. Contact Georgetown and just ask with Dr. Sonnanstine's blessing. The hospital keeps up with things like this as they need to know their own success factors. Dr. Sonnanstine has worked hard while there and I am sure they are very proud of those changes. I sure know I am.
Please understand that Dr. Sonnanstine wasn't keeping up with the score as all he cared about was taking care of the patients who came to him.. He only sat down this morning and worked on this because someone ask about it, and I ask him if he would help me reply. The hospital on the other hand has most likely kept up with the weekly or monthly figures as I would imagine they do on all surgery cases..at least I would hope a hospital keeps track of who and what is going on at their facility..
Just keep an eye out as there are going to be even more amazing things happening in Georgetown and with the doc within the next few months and year. Very exciting!!!!!

Hey there littlepenny. sorry it took so long to respond, very busy weekend..even in the rain!!
I wanted to answer your questions and glad you ask, giving me a chance to clarify for others as well.
I am not a nurse, though many years ago I was a medical assistant, and a paramedic...this was 100 yrs ago or more..lol
I then got involved in the law field where I spent a great deal of my life..before bariatric surgery by a Dayton Dr. I felt very alone and had some issues with being treated with prejudice by healthcare workers. I finally decided to have bariatric surgey (best decision of my life!)..after is when I felt I needed to help others in some way ..those that feel no one cared and to speak out to others who misjudge large people. I wanted everyone to know just because we are over weight we are not "fat and lazy"...I have an addiction, a serious addiction that caused serious health problems in my past. My addiction is no diffierent than that of an alcoholic or drug addict. I knew once I owned up to that I could break through many barriers.
a year after my surgery I met Dr. Sonnanstine, he helped me through some very tough times, though he and I have had our moments ea*****ident has brought us to a greater understanding. No I have never been employed within the health bariatric community and Dr. Sonnanstine and I both liked it that way, I can say I wish I could work for him as I believe in him and what he does that much! What I can do by not being employed is speak out loud and clear when I feel someone is in need of advice or help. He has always been supportive of that. Since his move to Georgetown, knowing this would change my advocacy work with him. We have decided to keep our friendship and take a step into that realm. We now include our families in getting together and I love his wife Debbie, he certainly has a keeper there...She and I have worked as a team supporting him completely. I feel very lucky and privileged to have been part of a training he put me through in his first year as a surgeon. I watched him grow and mature in this industry and could not be more proud. He is an amazing surgeon, person and friend.
Right now I am working in the health care industry. I am with the Bethesda Breast Center in Montgomery...working there I still speak out about prejudice larger folks go through..pointing out the fact their privacy in dressing rooms, gowns coving there body and genuine kindness is important ...as myself being many years in their position I hated going to the doctor, never had exams or mammo's...it's important to me that we all have the regular check ups. I will be involved in events where I will have the privilege of promoting womens' health issues...right up my alley. I give many thanks to Dr. Sonnanstine for giving me the support and a few pushes to achieve my goals.
If ever you are in near our hospital..Please stop in to visit...we will move into our new center on August 10th..
Brenda
P.S. I also forgot to say,,,,I am a proud grandma of 4 beautiful grandbabies..have incredible kids and a very loving husband....I guess you could say I am in a pretty good place with family and friends right now
