Don't forget about Dr. Husted in Somerset, KY. He is a top notch surgeon, and is contracted with BCBS, as is the hospital. I had surgery with him a little over a month ago and couldn't be happier with his care.

I used Dr. Weiss and Oldham for my lapband and at that time they were both in surgery with you.  There is now a new surgeon in the office and lots of times your first assistant is now an ARNP named Steve.  He was first assistant on my port replacement.  I also do not think you choose which doctor you get, they just assign them to you.  I know I didn't get to choose and I asked about that and they told me they assigned them.  May be different now.

Even though I have left the group and did not like the fact that they never followed up with a patient and I didn't like the way Weiss talked down to me prior to my port replacement, I will still say they are excellent  surgeons,  they just choose to practice medicine differently than what I think it should be.  I also think they are running a "surgery mill" they do all the surgeries in over 5 hospitals now and I heard expanding to another state soon, yet they never follow up on a patient.  I went almost 7 months with a leaking port before I could convince the PA that something was wrong.  Then I was told one thing by the PA and something different by Weiss.  He said the PA didn't know everything and the way it worked, but IMO if they are going to be their stand ins then they should know how things work.

I met Dr. Oldham at a seminar and decided to keep looking.   No need to go into details.  Suffice it to say he left me feeling that he was more concerned about numbers than people....

I scheduled a consult with Dr. Sonnanstine and was totally impressed!    My first good impression has held true.  I am 4 weeks post op.    He is really an excellent, caring doctor and surgeon.    I love that he personally follows up with his patients.

I really hate to hear that Dr Oldham seems to be more of a numbers doctor vs. a patient doctor. That is why I really liked Dr. Geller, because he really took the time to talk and answer all my questions. I have my first appointment with Dr Oldham next week and am supposed to have my RNY surgery done with him the week after. I sure hope that I like him when I meet him. I am not sure what else I am going to do.

I looked and saw that Dr Sonnanstine is in my network, but Georgetown Hospital is not. I wi**** were. :-(
