I am having my RNY at Centennial Hospital in Nashville with Dr. David Dyer. I wanted the lap band but after looking at the stats i was convinced that the RNY is better for me. I attended 2 seminars at Centennial over the last 2 years. My inusrance won't pay for it. My husband just got hired on at Ft Campbell. He is a paramedic. And they had 20 different policies for him to choose from. We had a month to pick one and boy did i get to researching. It took me about a week but i got it narrowed down to 2 and ended up with BC/BS Fed. Employee program. Took me about 3 days to get approved. I work in a Home Health agencey doing payroll so i shouldn't be off work very long since i have a desk job. I think he put on my FMLA paperwork that i am off 8-11 thru 8-31. So we will see i guess. I am getting excited. I have already started preparing mentally. I don't eat much with my family so that they get used to eating with out me. They say they are going to eat like i do but i don't think a protien shake several times a day for several weeks is what they are thinking. I have started moving my furniture around so during recovery i can be comfortable. I will probably had to be by myself after the first week. I don't know how i am going to be feeling but i want to be prepared. I don't want people thinking they need to come to my house to do the laundry to housework. So i am deep cleaning to get that out of the way. I am glad we found each other. My home email is [email protected]. I want to stay in touch during this process. I am going to go to my first support group meeting Wednesday night. You are more than welcome to come to R/ville and ride to BG with me if you like.

i had a friend who had RNY about a year or so ago..her experience was and has been awful..she has even had a reversal done..however she is still very supportive and is very happy she had the surgery done..the reason im mentioning this is because she is now a patient at centennial and she said she would never go anywhere else..and trust me she has been seen from here to new york. so i feel you are in great hands. so dont worry im absolutely sure that you are in great hands!! i will have to see about my schedule on wednesday. they just changed my schedule at work and if i have to work thursday i will have to pass..i have to get up at 415 each morning to go to work. so my bed time ranges from 8-930 depending on what ive done that day..lol.. what time is the support group. thank you for asking me to go and i really would like us to stay in touch.. do you have a cell phone? i have unlimited text and it would be easier to keep in touch with you with updates and stuff..i dont always get on here like i should. have you considered going to any support meetings in clarksville? i work with a woman who had it done thru FT campbell and goes to the meetings weekly. i also have a desk job i work at convergys in clarksville..its a call center for at&t..they also told me that i could probally return to work in about 2 weeks- we will see..im really lucky i have 2 teenage daughters and a teenage niece that lives with me they are all so helpful. i hate to think that i will have to call on them but i know that i will need to some..i started walking today on my treadmill and i have given up cokes and im using a insinospirometer to strengthen my lungs..my sister is a nurse and picked me up on at the hospital..someone gave the heads up to try and use it before surgery and ive picked up different flavor chap sticks..they have said on here it is a must that your lips get so dry and it really helps but thats about as far as ive gotten. i will be switching sides of the bed with my husband this week since i normally sleep on my left side and after surgery they said i wont be able to for a while...so i figure i might as well make the change now...i will have enough changes to go thru soon enough..YAY!! just let me know what time the support meeting is and i will get back with you. hope to hear from you soon
Hi Kim - I'm originally from Louisville but have lived in Tompkinsville since 1987. I know where Russellville is! I had RNY in December and have done great. If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask. I like to shop in Bowling Green - and my daughters will both be at WKU this August.
I haven't heard about support group meetings in Bowling Green, but it's closer to me than Louisville. I'd be interested in when and where they are.
Congratulations on having a date!
Hugs,
CIndy
