Hello Everyone,
I'm new here. My surgeon is DR. Oldham. I'm in the process of  VSG and I'm looking for a support group or a friend in the area to share this with. I actually live in Upton.

Good luck to everyone on your journey.   Judy

Judy,
I live in E'town...there is a support group @ HMH  that meets on the 3rd Monday of each month on the 5th floor -- the meeting is from 6-8.  You can probably call the hospital's education dept & get more info on it. I've been to it a couple of times, even though my surgeon is in L'ville. I also go to Norton's Surburban Hospital for their support group on occasion (my surgery was there w/Dr. Geller of Norton's)  I think the support group is open to anyone who has had surgery.  Good luck to you!

Thank You. I will call and check it out. I haven't had my surgery yet. I.m waiting for a date. The Dr, said he would have to do my surgery in Louisville or Lexington since they only do lap bands in E-town.

I had RNY surgery with Dr. Oldham this past October.. he is AWESOME!  Can't say enough good things about him and if you choose to go with Lexington..  I have met with the program director, fitness person and several other staff people there.. and they have an awesome program... and they have two support groups with their program.  I had my surgery at Georgetown with him, but I do the Lexington Support groups (I drive the 1.5 hours up there monthly for them.. they are well worth it!)-  There is at least one person that attends monthly that had VSG and she's done awesome too.  They have one support group that meets the first Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fitness one.  it is a great support group.

let me know if I can help in any way.. and GOOD LUCK!  You will love Dr. Oldham!
Best Wishes...
Deb

Thank you for that information. The program is new in Elizabethtown and it is hard to get any information about support groups or activities. I'm about 2 hours from Lexington. Maybe good things will begin in this area. If they do, I hope that I can be of help to someone else. Thanks, Judy
