Un-Fill
Boo hoo! Well, it has come down to a choice-give up my cycling or loosen my band so I can eat more. I guess in the grand scheme of things, this is a good problem to have; as my nutritionist was floored by my level of activity and my band response to heavy-duty exercise. Ladies (and men too!) -if you want to lose inches off your thighs and butt-GET ON A BIKE! I have lost 7 inches in one month, over 5 1/2 from my hips and thighs. However, be ready to have your band clamp down like a nun's knees in a brothel (sorry if I offended anyone) due to the exertion and stress of the hard physical activity! Everything I eat on days that I cycle comes back up regardless of how fine I chew it or how small of bites I take. Then, the mornings after I ride hard, I can only tolerate fluids. Not good-my cycling is suffering and my weight loss has really slowed. I have re-entered that starvation-mode-so convert everything to fat and store it". I can burn up to 3000 calories on a ride and then only get in 1200 with a struggle, that and I don't like my significant other/ride coach thinking I have an eating disorder...aka bulimia.
One would think the weight would be falling off pound over flesh!
I go to see Dr Tom Friday, now that Dr July has left ...it is time for me to follow Dr S to Georgetown. I am looking forward to seeing him but I am kind of bummed by this decision to unfill some because I really fear the weight going back on. I don't trust myself. But I also know I can re-fill and un-fill; the beauty of a band. I finally broke down and told my SO about my band...I completely mis-judged him as he laughed and said, "That explains why you rarely eat!...And now I will stop hassling you!"
Guess the dating thing is harder than I thought!

I have been struggling with what to do about filling or unfilling as well considering I excercise about two hours a day and it does make you tight! I met the guy I'm dating one week before my surgery so I had to tell him I couldnt really hide the pain pump hanging off my body! lol I looked at it like a test and I'm happy to say he passed, we are still dating 10 mos later. Good for you for making a tough decision keep up the cycling and you definitely wont gain! funny how practically zero calories makes you keep the weight not lose it, go figure! lol

I think you'll be fine with all the exercise you get in!!!!!!!If your burning 3000 calories on one cycling event.. you need to eat!!!!
I had to have an unfill a few weeks ago( took out 2 cc)... i was miserable... downfall is I was able to eat anything...bagels...pizza...etc.. NOT GOOD!!! cause my exercise is suffering with the kids out of school.
Anyways.. had appt today and got 1 cc put back in. Hopefully that will give me something! I really need to kick start my exercise again!
Good Luck!!!

Sonja that is so hard I know. I was having a problem while exercising as well. I had a personal trainer working with me. Due to the fact, I am deaf made it scary for me at first to ride a bike until I found a group at my gym.
The trainer would give me all kinds of ideas but the fact was. He wasn't familiar with a band! I went to the doctor and he took some out. I gained 10 lbs without a problem and I freaked!
I finally started chatting with Brenda Gold, she told me to try a protein drink before I rode or exercised instead of solid food. It took me awhile to gag (as she would put it) them down. But I got use to them. Had more fill and lost the weight. To this day, I drink a protein drink every morning before I ride or exercise. It keeps my energy level high...helped me stay compliant and not hungry. It was a life saver. I lost the 10 lbs and 20 more later. I love my band!
I hope to be going to Dr. Sonnanstine myself once we settle in the new house. I also need to find a place to work out.
