skin removal

     has anyone had just the bottom part of their stomach removed, I am in the process of trying to get this done, I went to the family dr. Thursday and he said he would do everything in hos power to help me get it done, have to wait and see what the insurance says, he said himself, that it needed removed badly, so cross your fingers for me. I have saggy skin everywhere now, but if I can just get my hanging belly skin removed, I will be a happy woman. 
    If you have had this done, how long did it take, and I know it was painful how long was you out of commission?

I'm with Holli - I'm gonna need this done someday too.  Dr. Shina even mentioned that I'd probably want to do that someday and when I do it'll take away all my scars!  (I can hardly believe that, but that would be a nice bonus! 

I'll be interested to hear from any KY folks that have had this done too!

I had a hysterectomy in Feb and while he had to open me all the way he went thru Tricare and got me approved to take my excess skin off my belly.
I had rashes under my belly and it my hang was so big it hindered my walking.
When i went in for surgery it was going to be 5-6 hours now that was a total hysterectomy to and it took 8 he found adhesions and a hernia but i done great and healed well.
I had drains and i did have a place come up that had to be taken care of after they where removed and it healed fine.
My doctor was not a plastic surgeon he is a cancer obgyn and he done great he removed 30 pounds of skin and fat and moved my hooch up and gave me a new belly button or should i say bug bite.
To me it wasnt painful except the getting up from the sitted position and i was out of commision for abut 2 weeks ,but i dont have a job outside of the house.
But in all honesty i never dreamed it would make that much diffrence but it has my clothes fit and i can walk and stand up straight and I HAVE A LAP ,i was afraid to do it and the only reason i did was he was in there anyways but it is heaven beleive me.
My doc had to send in pictures of my belly and he got me approved,he took from my belly button down off and i am happy so happy.
Good luck and go the plastic surgery board they are helpful also.

I work with lady that had it done.  She said to just have your dr. document well for the insurance company to present it as a medical need........rashes, infection risks, etc..............and not as a cosmetic need.    Her insurance paid for it too  :)

Thank you all for the kind posts, I haven't been on in a couple of days, my computer hasn't been nice to me lately, well I should say the internet connection.
   My dr. looked at it last week, and he said it needed removed, my stomach is lopsided, hangs down farther on one side, when I try to run it flops and makes noise, and most of the time I take atleast 2 showers a day, and I do get skin rashes, he has given me meds for a long time to help it when it gets that way, even before surgery, maybe that will help.
   I am doing fine, just alot of stuff to do around here, and this weekend, I am meeting my oldest soncs girlfriend for the first time, man I hope she is a better person than the girl my other son is dating., lol.
   I am taking 3 summer classes and it takes alot of my time, hope to see you girls soon. love ya
