I would like to know what those of you that used him for surgery think about his aftercare?  I am unhappy with my surgeon at present and since I had my surgery at G-town am seriously considering going to him for follow up care for my band.  Just had to have my port replaced this past week, it was leaking and I felt the doctor was trying to blame me for my failure prior to surgery.

He did not do my surgery but I was very unhappy with my aftercare from my surgeon so I recently switched to dr. Sonnanstine. I cannot reccomend him enough! he is great and sees all his patients personally you would be making an excellent choice as far as I'm concerned. My experience since I switched doctors has been a wonderful difference. Good luck!

Dr. Sonnanstine and his staff are the best.  They are very concerned about your aftercare.  He even tells you on your first consult with him that he is your bariatric doctor for life.  He is always available for his patients.   If you call or email he will get back to you.  He sees his patients after the surgery, you don't go to a nurse practitioner or someone else.  He really is a very caring doctor and I am sure he would welcome you with open arms.......He is very understanding and he doesn't try to place blame or berate you for anything, he and his staff work WITH you.  They are all very supportive.  You will absolutely love him and his staff.  The aftercare is great!  Hope this helps.....

Hi Jacqueline, my name is Brenda and I have been Dr. Sonnanstine's patient advocate since nearly the beginning of his practice.  I can tell you he is very supportive of his patients and believes in complete honesty as well as educating his patients.  I have YET to hear him blame anyone for anything, he takes time out of his busy day to talk to people who are struggling, having complications and will take care of you as if you were his patient from the beginning.  He is very caring and compassionate.  He did not do my original surgery but has operated on me for gallbladder and a serious plastic surgery complication, he took over my care "thank goodness"...not to mention placed the band in my husband..( I tend to tattle on hubby but Dr. Sonnanstine never gets on him, he ask him questions and once again,,educates him..) he is very controlling of his patients, the reason you will see only him for fills and appts. not a nurse practitioner..not that he doesn't love em, his wife is one..lol.. he just feels a doc should see him own patients..and loves watching them change..
I can help you with the process if you want to contact me.  Send me an email

Dr. Tom did my surgery, and then he left our local hospital in NKY to go to Georgetown. I saw the replacement surgeon once, then QUICKLY found my way back to him! My husband switched as well. Nobody compares to him in his quality of care.

Thanks for your comment.  I am going to see him on the 30th and I know this many people can't be wrong.

WHAT VITAMINS DOES DR. SONNANSTINE RECOMMEND AFTER SURGERY?  ALSO, HAS ANYBODY HAD MEDICARE AND HAD A REVISION?

I don't know what he recommends for his RNY patients but I do know he has had a couple of your doctor's patients and the one I know and email had done great.

I think the man is wonderful.  It appears he has gotten me on the right track and I just can't imagine how much better I will be once I get a fill.

When I had it done a year and a half ago he just recommended two multivitamin chewables my obgyn and family doctor couldn't agree more that these are the best for just about any kind of post op but especially bariatric surgery. The funny thing is when my aunt had her hysterectomy 4 years ago her doctor said every adult should take at least a multivitamin a day and told her if you can't swallow the big pills take the chewables.
But I went to college for english and sociology not medicine so don't take my word for it.
