Gaining weight...
first of all congrats on getting approved!!!!! i am have the lap RNY on July 8th as well.. When i sent my insurance papers in, i started have many O many LAST SUPPERS....needleless to say i gained 10lbs. I as well see my doc n nutritionist on june 16th....i'm scared too but i lost 30 lbs. in the last 6 months so i figure if i tell them why i gained the weight they will understand! if i didn't lose a substantial amount of weight before then i would be worried....we still got 6 days to get back on track!!!!
Good luck with surgery i'll meet you on the other side of the bench LOL

He won't turn you down Renea, but I would be very careful with your weight gain. you have a few days to get that under control so don't worry about it and just try to eat healthy and maintain where you are or maybe lose a lb or 2..I know how easy it is to gain when you get nervous and stressed. So does Dr. Tom. BUT, he doesn't like seeing anyone gain weight as it could cause medical problems, like your B/P rising or your sugar (if you are diabetic) breathing problems under anesthesia, etc...fatty liver, etc.....not to mention it just shows how serious you are about going through this process. Hang in there, you will be just fine. Just try to remember weight gain, though small, isn't good. It's your health he is worrying about right now.
Dr. Shina told me it would be easier on me if I lost 25 or 30 lbs. before my surgery (this was during the 6 months of supervised dieting period) and I tried, but I was not able to make myself diet. As a matter of fact I think I ended up gaining 10 or 15 lbs. I was worried that I had messed up and would either be turned down or get fussed at, but Dr. Shina didn't say a word about it. I weighed 428 according to the hospital scales and being so heavy makes it rougher on us for recovery - the risk factors go up the heavier we are.
That said, I am glad I got the surgery because now it's so much easier to make the right choices. I'm not saying it's easy, because a few weeks ago I started slipping into some bad habits and my weight loss came to a standstill for about a month. But I got a grip and quit grazing and now I'm losing again. The brain/stomach connection are quite different for me now compared to pre-surgery. I am not as emotionally attached to food as I was before - I feel like the addiction is gone. I still like food and if it's out in the open I get tempted with it as before, but I don't feel like I'm just gonna die if I don't get some. I just tell myself no and it's not like an emotional thing - I just feel disciplined and normal like most people I know!
Good luck and hang in there - you're not the only one who gained while waiting for this surgery.
Hugs,
Cindy

I think my weight gain has alot to do with quitting smoking, but I think I am getting back on track.. I talked to Tina at GT today and I told her and she told me what to be doing so hopefully that will help. Thank you all for all of your help and inspirations... Love You Guys....And if anyone is there around time for my surgery feel free to stop in.......July 8th.....
I think most people flucuate a few pounds almost on a daily basis for example I weighed 185 on Saturday was down to 180 on Monday today is now Friday(super early) and I just hopped off the scale and am up to 187. Plus no offense but you are a woman and you know how we like to hold water like a stuffed pig especially this time of the year. I think all will go well. I think he postpones people's plans if they gain like 20 or so pounds before surgery not 6-8.
Just be very careful and watch what you eat no last supper syndrome and you will be fine.
