Hey guys just wondering how many KDMC patients are out there?  I have had a great experience so far with the SWL program there.  I am scheduled for banding on June 17th.  Does anyone make it to the monthly support group meetings? I'm thinking about going this week and I was just wondering if they were very helpful.

I am one.
I had RNY last February.  I don't make it to the support group meetings because of the distance.  I live in Prestonsburg and the trip is simply too much after a work day for me.
There are 4 of us that try to meet up once a month for dinner around Paintsville, Salyersville or Prestonsburg.   If you are close, watch for our posts and come on out!  We are always happy to meet new people.

Good luck with your band!!!!!!

That's awesome that you have your own little support group... i know it has to help.  I'm feel so fortunate to live only 15 minutes away from the hospital.  I know some people I've met in the waiting room and at classes are travelilng long distances to come to KDMC.

Hi I'm a KDMC patient. I had RNY done back in October 2008. I have had really good experiences with them. I live close to Paintsville. So it's about an hour and half away and I don't go to the meetings.

Hi Rhonda,

I go to the meetings. They have a different topic for each meeting. Some times you get some thing new and some times you don't. What I enjoy most is seeing how every one is doing. Going regularly you naturally get to know some people. There is usually a good size group.

i was there, i was sitting on the side of the room that the chairs were angled in the second row.  it was a good meeting. i was glad everyone was so helpful.  i've been to meetings where everyone just sits and no one participates, but everyone seemed to have a good time.
