surgery date

hi everyone,
could you tell me, do they give you a surgery date at the pre op class, or do they even do it on the same day.i think i have to see the surgeon first i think, don't really know. my pre op class is june 11 this thrusday can't believe it s been almost a year since i started this, getting scared now though, had a little cry eailer, nerves i think, i have only had surgery on my knee, but this is different, thanks for letting me vent a little, tammy

I just got my surgery date a few weeks ago.  I went for my 1st all day appt. on March 27th, and will be doing my last on June 16th.  On that date I will meet my surgeon.   My surgery is July 8th.  I am so nervous and excited both.  But it will all be worth it when the pounds start melting off....Good luck....

I had my pre-op class on May 28.  You'll go over a packet of information with the psychologist, nurse, and dietitian (one at a time) at the end of each session you'll have an open book test to complete and pass.  Then at the very end you'll get an envelope with your appointment with Dr. Tompkins.  I just had my appointment with him on June 4.  We talked about any concerns I had and he went over the procedure with me.  Then he took me back and scheduled a surgery date - June 17th - alot sooner than I thought.  I thought it would drag out like the last year of pre-op stuff has ... but nope.  Then after you get your date, they will schedule you for pre-admission testing.  They sent me straight down for bloodwork and an EKG.  I'm all set now.  I just have to call the office the day before to find out what time to report to the hospital for surgery.

 It seems after the pre-op class everything moves at warp speed.

The evening I had my pre-op class, we were told to call the Dr. office the next morning to get our last surgeon's appt. date...........which was like 5 days later for me.  He gave me my surgery date when I saw him!
