Anyone here had revision and if so who'd you use.  I seen 3 Dr's. 1st said couild help his office never called back 2006.  2nd said yes seen enlarged stoma pouch normal, but didn't want to take risk 2007.  3rd Has his eyes set on this ROSE surgery and I'm waiting on approval from insurance company, but thinking may want something more drastic.  Had surgery in 97 lost 170 to 210.  Never went below maintained 7 years had two kids and now 320.  I need something as drastic as first surgery not a trial procedure with no true data or testimonials of the true weight loss.  Any suggestion OH Family?

It's been said with revision surgery you will not lose nearly as fast as your original surgery. Your body is generally in shock with the first surgery. I believe, though, you are so far out from your original one that you probably eat like a normal person.

Read the studies on the ROSE procedure, I think it will change your mind on going through with it, same with stomaphyx.

This is my recommendation- Dr. John Husted www.johnhustedmd.com he has been doing revision surgeries since 98, and has done tons of them. He is located in Somerset Ky and does surgeries at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. http://www.commonwealthbariatriccenter.com/

The best surgery you could revise to (with the highest percent of EWL) is Duodenal Switch. It has a 3% fail rate but like any surgery you have to be faithful to your vitamins and keep your protein high. Check out www.dsfacts.com for more information on this. & also http://www.duodenalswitch.com/ don't forget to check out the Duodenal Switch board here.

I am also looking into revision and Dr. Husted is the only surgeon I trust to do such a complex surgery. Once you sit in on one of his seminars you will be hooked. If I can be of any help to you please get in touch.

I know some folks have been banded on top of a failed surgery.  Just one note, please never feel you failed.  often times the surgery itself was the problem.  I took a friend to see Dr. Sonnanstine once she saw my weight loss ( Dr. Sonnanstine did not do my surgery)
He told her he would bet her staple lined opened within the first month or so.  He was right, the surgeon who did her surgery didn't seperate the stomach.  seminars are free.. sit in on a few then talk to the surgeons after.  If you have a good feeling about any of them, make an appt to sit and talk.  Then go with your gut (no pun intended) feeling.
Unless things have changed.  I don't think the Rose procedure is covered under insurance.
Take care
