Awful pains.....

I am 19 months post op from RNY...Gastric bypass in August of 2007...I have not had any problems until now.....I have been to the ER 2 days in a row....I have severe pain under my left rib...my stomach is bloated and it feels like when you exercise and the muscles are jumping in your leg...my stomach is doing that....I feel like there is something stuck in my chest....I have had waves of nausea...the ER doc did cat scan first night....said I had a urinary tract infection....2nd night another cat scan with contrast...Doc said there was nothing but I was in such terrible pain that they hooked me up to IV gave me pain med, stuff for nausea, potassium and sugar water, my potassium and sugar were very low...then he gave me something to relax my intestines.. I dont feel as twisted inside, but I am still so uncomfortable, bloated, swollen and I can feel everything I drink and eat....I have read alot about strictures....I have vomited a little....I have not had a bowel movement since Wed. Earlier this week like on Monday I starting hurting and it has gotten worse...I could not have a bowel movement so I took a laxative and an enema....it worked on Wed. so I'm not sure what is going on....I keep burping alot....Does anyone have any advise....the er doc said if I come back in they will have to call a specialist and do a scope....should I just give the relaxation med time or go back to the er doc.....PLEASE ADVISE.....

This sounds like a problem for your surgeon. A lot of the time ER docs aren't familiar with weight loss surgery, or not nearly as familiar as our surgeons are. I would call Dr. Shina and see if he can fit you in. Just to be on the safe side.

I wouldn't wait any longer, call Dr. Shina right away, sounds like you need help now...I wouldn't go back to the er.  Hope you get better soon!!
