D-  I have been so terribly discouraged that I have only lost 40 pounds so far.  Dr. S asked about my clothes which I've gone from a 22-24 in pants/shorts to a 16 and from a 2XL-3XL to just a large in tops.  He reminded me not to forget that you are replacing fat with muscle that is more dense than fat so losing inches is just as, if not more important than losing pounds because it means you're burning off all the crap and replacing it with the good stuff that's going to make you so much healthier!   I just read that a pound of muscle can burn 25 times the amount of calories as a pound of fat, so the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn.  Losing 17 inches in a month is a tremendous accomplishment!  You're doing awesome and I am SOOO proud of you!

And here I thought I was all by myself in not losing the numbers in lbs. I also have only lost 40lbs but went dress shopping over the weekend for my cousins wedding and was able to buy a xlarge. Our minds are set to look at the lbs only and that was what I have done for so long too, but we have to take a step back sometimes and look at the the numbers that are just as important, our clothes sizes, when those start going down then you know that something has to be working, so to everyone out there on this journey don't give up keep looking at where you were when you began, where you are now, and where you will be in the future.

Trish,
You are the best!  Thank you for all the words of encouragement you give me daily!  I will eventually get over the number thing.....especially watching the inches go away......

Donna, you are just to cute!!!  during my first month people told me to get rid of my scales...so I finally pushed them up under the bed where I couldn't get them easily  ( I had open surgery and was sore)....I weighed myself every day.  Then that afternoon I would weight again and be upset I didn't lose.  lol
Believe me you will lose the weight with little effort, Dr. Tom knows his stuff.   keep your thoughts in a journal.  I did it on my computer.  It was so funny to read back at my feelings and emotions after I had lost all the weight, but it also gave me a tool to help others.
hang in there girlfriend, you are doing awesome!!!
