looking for good RNY DR. in No. KY
I'm looking for an excellent surgeon in No, Ky/Cinti area for my sister. I had bypass with Dr Sonnanstine, but since he is not with St. Luke any more, I was wondering who has had experience with the other drs. in NKY/Cinti. Also does anyone know how to get in touch with Brenda Gold? Thanks, Katherine
I am partial to Dr.Sonnanstine and i will drive the miles it takes to see him,but i realize it is not do able for some.
I have alot of people from my area which is ind, ohio, kentucky that went with Dr.Curry and are very happy with their choice.
If you leave Brenda a p.m. im sure she will get ahold of you as soon as she has a chance.
Good luck

Katherine, I think the best and most practical thing to do is to attend as many info sessions as possible, get a feel for the surgeon. As you know you will be with the doc for a long time (the exact reason Dr. Sonnantine stayed in Ky, though he was offered jobs further away) It was important to him to stay near his patients. Though Georgetown is further they do things for those patients who travel. For example the classes you are required to take are all done in one day. An all day session rather than you traveling back and forth. For those patients refusing or just can't travel and want to stay close to home..that is of course, their choice. But I would study the surgeons carefully. I would want to make sure they are excellently trained in laparacopic surgery.(fellowship trained is a must for me) They do their own post-op follow-up...they have performed hundreds of procedures and I think the most important question of all is how long have they been in the bariatric surgery busines and how long they have been involved in a Center of Excellence. compared to the time they are "bariatric surgeons" did that make sense?
their after care, post-op support and staff is just as important..as you probably alreay know the surgery is actually the easy part. changing habits, working with our minds and bodies is not always an easy thing..After six years out I can tell you it doesn't get easier..that's for sure.
If there is anything I can help you with, just send me a PM through here I will catch it.
Thanks
Brenda
