I confess to lurking.........

Hi, I discovered this board a little over a week ago and you guys all seem so positive and upbeat, I have been lurking here since then enjoying your posts. I just switched surgeons offices to georgetown I live in Lexington and I wondered if any of you knew of any support groups of any kind in the area? I would love to get to know some people that are in a similar boat.

Welcome to the board.  There's nothing wrong with lurking until you decide what you want to do.  I had my surgery 2 weeks ago at Georgetown Comm. and if you call the bariatric unit or Dr. Sonnanstines office they can hook you up with a support group.  I live in Monroe Ohio so it is a bit far for me to go but I know they do have them.  Good luck and welcome again.   And you are right the people on here are just great, and will answer anything you want to know.....everyone is very open......... Donna

Thank you all very much its nice to feel welcome! I did just start seeing Dr. Sonnanstine so thanks for the tip I will call his office and ask ,I didnt even think of that Duh!
I think that it does not matter what kind of surgery you have had all of us have a similar journey and challenges to face and we can all help each other in our own way.

Welcome to the board chime in whenever

I had my surgery at Georgetown 7 months ago.  Are you using Sonnestine or Bluegrass Bariatrics?  Georgetown has a weekly lapband support group and a weekly RNY support group (unless that changed with Sonnestine) and they have a monthly support group for everyone.  (It was tonight) It meets in their cafeteria at 6:30 p.m.  I think it is usually the 2nd monday of the month.

If you are using bluegrass Bariatrics, they have a support group in Lexington on the 1st saturday of every month.

If I can help or you want to know more about the support group send me a message and I'll get back to you.  I'm not online much, but I'm happy to share.

Sorry.. I didn't read all the way down the message list.  I see you are using Sonnestine.  Hopefully the info. from their support groups will help you.  Best of luck.. still contact me if I can help... maybe I'll see you at one of the monthly meetings.
