I almost forgot last week that I hit my 18 month mark! I am down 80 pounds depending on the day. That seems to be where my body wants to be or it's just taking one LONG siesta on the weight loss!! I haven't given up by any means but if I never lose another pound I certainly can't complain! I had 100 pounds to lose so this means that I have lost 80% of my excess body weight, surpassing that ridiculous 50% statistic! More important than the scale though is it that I am healthier and have a MUCH better self-image. I actually like what I see in the mirror now although I still have my demons but even they are sufficiently smaller along with the rest of me!!
Here's a pic of me about 7 weeks prior to surgery when I topped out at 254 pounds. I was a size 22 (actually a 24 but refused to buy the next size up). I had high blood pressure and daily knee and back pain requiring darvocet daily:
Here I am today at 174 pounds. I am a size 12-14. I no longer have a diagnosis of high blood pressure and I can't remember the last time I took a darvocet!
And here's a pic just for fun!! These are the same shorts I had on in the first picture a year and a half ago:
Now, mind if I brag on the hubby and his lap band progress for a minute?? Richard had his band place on 4/17/08 and just passed his 1 year mark a little less than a month ago. He had roughly 80 pounds to lose when he had surgery and is almost 60 pounds down. If my math is correct that means he''s lost 73% of his excess body weight. the following is a picture from the day of surgery and one from today....he's got a little Captain Morgan in him as you can see!

I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you. Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information. Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.
