Hi, guys and gals.  I haven't posted here in... well....  just about forever.  I have been busy with my life, cats, home, friends and hobby of glass fusing, am the moderator of another small group of bandsters in KY and a member of several other boards, so I have spread myself pretty thin. (sigh) I wish!

I am still struggling with those dreaded last 45 pounds (my personal goal is 170), can still eat a bit too much but can not get any more saline in my 4cc band since I suffer from extremely serious reflux with more saline.  I had made it down to 190 but was absolutely miserable with barfing and reflux, had to get unfilled and regained 25 pounds.  I can't seem to shake the extra pounds off again.

For a while, because of the reflux, I was even considering a revision and had been lurking on some of the other boards for information.  Seems like most every WLS procedure has problems with reflux at one time or another. Thanks to some good information, however, I have found a very simple way to avoid the reflux, so I have stopped looking for an alternative to my band.  When it boils right down to it, tho, I really do like my band and feel good that I am eating much less than my friends!  LOL  (Sometimes, I am ashamed to say, that I even silently gloat a bit)

It is only 45 pounds to my goal and surely I can muster up the will power to get with the program and rid myself of them???  We all know it can take tremendous will power and a whole different mindset to lose the rest of the weight when the band has done it's job and you can't get any more restriction..

Now, I need to do my part!!!  Eating the dense proteins at every meal sure gets boring but we all know that is the way the band works.  Right now that is my major stumbling block.  That dumb protein!  I get so tired of MEAT and cannot tolerate fish any more.  I used to be able to eat it fixed any way.  Now, fish turns my stomach any way but fried!

Does anyone know of or have a good list of alternate foods that are considered to be dense proteins.. other than meats and scrambled eggs?

Hello, Phyllis!  I'm Kelly and a freshly banded gal (March 25th).  I don't think I can help you with alternate foods, other than things like almonds, cheeses, or soy products.  Which, you being a "Bandosaur" (Which I thought was quite cute!), probably have already tried those.  I just wanted to introduce myself to you since I probably am newer since you've posted.  Nice to meet you!

Yes, Dawn, You are correct!  I was on the old Georgetown Bandsters message board.  I have used the same name as always from day one..  PhyllisBandster  LOL  I started another small Bandster board, (Central Kentucky Bandsters on Multiply) right before the old one went belly up and changed to the "new" G-town team (after Oldham and Weiss left the building).

Thanks for the kind words!  I do try to share what I know about my band and band issues because I believe that it is one of the most difficult to understand and fickle WLS tools to have.  I have always felt that having compassionate support available and sharing our experiences as bandosaurs are the most important tools we can have...  And, even though the band behaves differently for everyone, our shared experiences are what hold us all together.

I don't know how much help I can be here, but I can always try..  Looks like there are a lot of helpful bandsters with good information available on this board.

I thought there was a separate Kentucky Lap Band board on OH but couldn't find it again.  Have they changed the forums now so that all types of surgeries are on the Kentucky WLS board?  ..or do my computer skills lag far behind?  LOL

Good to see that you ARE posting here .  Everyone has information to share!
