questions about a sugeon

I am a newbie on here and still pre op. I am planning to see Dr. Roderick Thompkins at KDMC in Ashland KY.....
I was just wondering who has had surgery with him........please give me the good, the bad, the ugly.....just wanting to make sure I am making the right decision......Thanks Margie

Hi. Maybe Leslie will see when she gets on here. She had Dr. Thompkins.
I had Dr. Smith from KDMC and he was very nice. I had no complications other than being dehydrated after surgery and in pain. I think if I have any other surgeries I'm going to ask for something other than morphine. It just doesn't work for me. I'd have WLS again in a heart beat though.
And Lisa on here had the other Dr. from KDMC. I can't think of his name right now.

And I have to say that KDMC is a great hospital, most Dr.s I have have seen anurses are great.

About once a month some of us girls get together and meet up for like out own lil support group. It's Leslie, Lisa, Katrina, sometimes my mom and me. We either meet in Prestonsburg, Paintsville and we are going tomeet in Salyersville before long. Cause we are all spread out.

sounds like a lot of fun.....if you guys dont care about preops joining ya on your outings....I am always up for a good time!....Maybe my mother would like to join us....she had rny in november 2008...so she would benefit from all tof the support....We are in Grayson Ky....so we are about an hour or so away from paintsville.....Thanks for welcoming us with open arms!

I had him and liked him.  He does a good job.   Fast and efficient.  Not a lot of sensitivity but that suited my personality just fine.

I have had good results and would highly recommend him!
Keep in touch.  I am not on the board as often as I used to but I try to check this board a few times a week now.

I have had an appointment with him...so I kinda got a feel for his personality...but I wasnt real sure about his work...i just dont know many people who have had this surgery where i live...I checked out your page and yes you did get great results...Congrats!...Thanks A Bunch
