Renea,

You're the second person I've met on here who's from Harlan, KY.  My mom is originally from Harlan.  Her family still lives there in a town called Cawood????

I too have been trying to get something scheduled with Georgetown.  Everytime I call I get the run around.  One time I talked to 4 different people who each asked my name and insurance company.  I've now been in scheduling for about two weeks.  I've got all my clearances as well.  Just waiting to be scheduled for surgery.  I've been thinking about driving to Georgetown to see if that would make a difference.  I live in Union, KY (south of Cincinnati) so it would be about an hours drive for me.  But at least I would feel like I doing something.  I keep calling their office but I feel like I'm aggravating.

Let me know your plan of attack and maybe both proceed the same way.

It always seems like it takes for ever to hear anything.  Then suddenly they are calling you setting up your appointment, then I remember thinking, I am not ready!!!  lol

Why don't you talk to Brenda, she has helped so many of his patients.  Just PM her through the post "introductions"

Hang in there ladies, there is a reason I am sure for the delay.  I am not at all involved with Georgetown and I am sure they rather keep it that way..lol   I do however, know Dr. Sonnanstine well.   Steve is in his office and is doing all he can to work with Gtown staff to get folks scheduled.  I know it seems like it takes forever, but I promise it will happen!!  Scheduling has to work around the docs schedule, certain days he has aside for surgery, anesthesia, his OR assist. and of course equipment ..not to mention other surgeons work out of the hospital as well so they have to make sure of the day and times for Dr. S...there is a lot to scheduling a patient.  And Dr. Sonnanstine has to look over all your records and study your case, he is very thorough and kinda a control freak that way..lol  (dont tell him I said that..lol..)
Again it will happen ..with one sudden phone call...it will happen.
Good Luck!!!

Take care of yourself and keep us informed.

I so understand your frustration.  I felt the exact same way.  But believe me when it starts happening it goes very very fast.  Also, he has only been there since April 1 so they are still setting the office up and getting organized while still trying to see patients.  It will happen for you ladies just like it did me.  Hang in there and be patient with them I do know they are working as hard as they can.  The nurses on the bariatric unit are still learning Dr. Sonnanstines ways of doing things too.  He is new to them just as they are new to him.  So it will take a while to iron out all of the kinks but in the mean time I know they are working as hard as they can.  And believe me you will absolutely love your experience there.  His nurses are absolutely awesome.  The hospital is great.  I can not say enough good about them.  They took excellent care of me.  They are in my opinion the BEST!  So even though you are waiting it is going to be so worth it to you to have the kind of care they give you.  They are so encouraging and caring it is amazing.  Hugs to all.....Donna
