Ok.. Ill take a shot at this!

I am Shea from London Ky. I am turning 30 on May 31. I have a son Dylan who is turning 7 on May 30. My fiance' Jason just turned 29 in Feb. I work full time at a Medicare call center as a CSR and Jason is a truck driver. My son is in the first grade. Jason and I are both so excited about having WLS. We plan to postpone the wedding until after surgery.

I currently have a BMI of 43. I attended a seminar with Dr Husted (Somerset) back in Dec 08 - after much consideration, I finally sent in my packet and had my consult on 4/15. I am in the process of my 6 mo diet that my ins requires. I plan to have DS surgery around Aug/Sept this year.

Jason currently has a BMI of 68.   Jason and I attended a seminar on April 11 with Dr Tom (Georgetown) and he has decided on RNY. We sent his package in last week but havent heard anything yet. His ins does not require 6 mo diet so he will have his surgery as soon as he goes for consult and can be scheduled.

I just want to thank everyone for the great posts! You all are an inspiration!

Okay....I guess it's my turn!

I'm Chris and I had RNY in November 2006.  I've lost around 230 pounds....give or take some depending on the week.    I'd like to lose a little more, but if I don't...I'm happy where I am considering where I started from.

I'm 38, single and childless....but I'm the VERY proud aunt to 4 nieces and 2 nephews. The 4 year old niece is the spitting image of me....and I apologize to her regularly for that! :)

I've also been seeing a great guy for the past year and a half.  Nothing permanent in the works...just dating and having fun.    I'm too young to settle down! ;)

I love crafts of all kinds though lately my passion has been beading and knitting.  I'm fairly new to both but I'm really enjoying learning something new.  I also scrapbook, crochet, cross-stitch... pretty much anything that is craft related!   I love to read.  I enjoy a good mystery though I'll read almost anything.  And I play online games at a site called POGO.com.  It's what I do after work when I need to decompress.  I turn on some music and play a few games.

Hey ya'all.  I want to thank everyone for posting on this thread.  It gives us a renewed since of where we came from, where we are and where we are going (or can go) in this weight loss journey.  I thought if we could tell a little something about ourself it would humanize us all so that we are not just typed words on a board.  We have all struggled with weight, we most all have been married or in serious relationships.  We have children that we love more than life itself (even those with neices and nephews) and we all appreciate the skill and dedication of our doctors.  And we all need support.  Does that pretty much sum things up?

I was talking to Chris earlier and ask her what she thought of a get together in our area, I am going to check into a few things so that we can bring our families.  This will be open to each and every person who lurk's, post..newbies and oldbees. so hang in there and let me check around.

I am also thinking about putting another event together in a central location..hang on for more info about that..

Thanks again everyone, have a great day!!

Hi my name is Amy. I had lapband surgery in March of 2007 but suffered a port infection shortly after and had to have it removed.  During the port removal surgery I suffered a massive stoke.  Thanks to Dr. Sonnanstine and his quick action and that of the stroke team from University Hospital Cincinnati, I can walk now without a cain and talk.  Most who meet me don't think I have any efffects from the stroke.  Believe me I do.  I lost my job at Good Samaritan Hospital apprently they have no idea of a strokes effect on the brain.  To hell with GS... In December of 2007 I had to have my gallbladdere eremoved and Dr. Tom put my port back in.  But due to the storke and job loss I have had problems with depression and axiety.  The weight I have lost to helped greatly.  I am married to Dan going on on 24 years and have 3 children.  Hannah graduates from BGSU in 2 weeks, Luke is at WSU, Sam will enter his senior year of high school this fall.  I have 3 dogs (my nap buddies after the stroke) Ozzie, Gladys, and Tenac.  FYI I will be going to Georgetown to see Dr. Tom for all my future appt.
