Good morning, everyone!  I'm Kelly and am from Owensboro.  My husband, Mike and I just celebrated our 12 year anniversary yesterday!  We have 3 kiddos (Rosemary, Geoffrey, and John), a dog, and a cat.  (We'd have a lot more animals if it were up to me and Rosemary!  She likes to run the underground railroad for stray animals.  My husband has the level head on that one!  LOL!)  I work in our local school system as a Family Resource Coordinator (like a Social Worker in the school).  I was just banded on March 25th by Dr. Geller.  I have lost 10 pounds since surgery, 33 in all.  I go for my first fill in 2 weeks!

Hi I am Teach- aka Sol
I am married 18 1/2 years to my very dear Hubby Steve and we have one son, Hunter who is the apple of our eyes and 10 years old.  I am as my name states a prek teacher. My DH is a computer wizzard and self professed GEEK (he is better than the geek squad- honestly). My son and hubby are gamers and I am not. I love my family and family time. I care more about the people in my life than the things. We have one dog and an old and amazing cat...we have lost 2 kitties in the past two years as they were all old.  I love to walk and exercise...now that the weight is coming off it is getting so much easier.  I miss my home town of San Francisco and try to get home every summer for 5 weeks.  We are retired military and I am greatful to the military for the opportunity to get my surgery!!! In all I can be summed up as a glass 1/2 full kinda gal.
I am so thankful for the people I have met here who have supported me and befriended me!!!

Hi,  I'm Becka and I want to play too!

I'm a bandster who is closing in on her 18th month of success.  I have lost 80 pounds depending on the day and 4 dress sizes.  I have 20-ish more pounds to lose to get to goal and then it's time to start seriously looking into plastic surgery.

I am stay-at-home mommy or as I like to refer to it, Director of Home Operations.  I am also my hubby's part time "office girl" with his business.  In my previous life, before I opted for early retirement, I was a master's level social worker working in the field of mental retardation and developmental disabilities.  We have one daughter who is 6 going on 16!  She is completely and totally spoiled but in a good way!  We have 2 dogs, 2 cats and hubby just gave me the nod to get the girlie a guinea pig (yikes!)

Hubby's name is Richard and he is banded as well  He just had his one year bandiversary on 4/17 and is 60 pounds down himself with about 15 pounds to go to get to his goal.   Life feels like it has started all over again!  We can play with and chase our girlie down when needed!  We feel better about ourselves and our future.

Oh yeah, my mom and dad are both banded as well and my sis has had RNY.  Unfortunately, we still don't get the frequent flyer discount with our bariatric group!

Nice to get to know you all and let's all of us try to break through this "Us and Them" thing we seem to have developed on this board!

OK...I guess I am up! My name is Lee Ann and I am 45...soon to be 29 again in October! I have the lapband which was initially done on Oct 30...just a couple days before Becka. I had some complications which resulted in no benefits from it until I had a port revision on June 3rd of 2008. So that is the date I now use. I am down +77 pounds...depending on the day! I have two daughters Aubrey (17)-soon to be 18 in a few months) and Sarah who is 15 and 1/2. I also am a grandmom to Braedyn (13 months) and he is the love of my life. I was married at 27 then divorced 7 yrs later. I am currently back in a relationship with the man I dated before I married and stayed friends through the years. We are going on 24 yrs in June. I love to garden, read, anything outdoors, and spend time with family and friends. I make non-edible cakes for all occassions to supplemnet my income and buy Mr B diapers! Lol...I also help out a frined who is a paralegal and runs a gift/framing store. Sometimes I feel like I run it rather than help...you know what I mean!  I have definitely made alot of friends on here..maybe even an enemy or two...but that goes with the territory! I have a cat and Aubrey's fish. How it is still alive after 4 yrs is beyond me...I thought Betas were like goldfish...short term! Anyways...I live in a small town in southern indiana...Salem, but am originally from Muncie. I attended Ball State.  Not alot more to add I guess....except that I love me band! lol

Hi, I'm Laura-49 years old.  I'll be 50 in September.  I live in Glasgow, which is about halfway between Louisville and Nashville.  I had my lapband surgery on April 17, 2008 and have lost 145 pounds since then.  I'm married to Jimmie, who worked for the state until he became disabled.  I have one son who will be 26 in June and he is married.  I will be having my first grandchild this fall.  She's due to arrive September 8th.  I retired last November from the Barren County Circuit Clerk's office after 22 years of working.  I had bought enough time to make up the rest.  Now, I'm enjoying life although it seems like I'm busier now than I've ever been in my life. I don't guess I've had over 10 days to stay at home all day since November.  I always have something to do.

I have 2 dogs and 7 cats.  And they are part of the family too.  I do some secretarial work for my church.  My son works for the water company, runs his own mowing business and he's on our volunteer fire department.  I mow 3 yards for him every week while he's at work.  I do zumba or run 5 or 6 days a week.

Hi everyone my name is Vicki
I am 44 years old and live in LaGrange, KY.  I am married to my childhood friend Scott.  I have three boys of my own 24, 16 and 11, he has a girl 25 and a boy 23, we have no children together but a boston terrier named Dizzy and two cats.  I do plan on getting chickens but we're just not there yet.  I had the DS a year ago this month in Indianapolis with Dr. Margaret Inman and it has changed my life and given me back that 20% she talked about in her seminar.  I went to EKU and focused on sculpture and painting and am working at being a real full time artist although real full time mom usually takes over.  I spend most of my time running, cooking, cleaning and really only carve a few hours a week out for myself in the studio.  Hoping that will change once school is out.  I am a recent convert to exercising.  I was raised that girls did not sweat, we glow and I still am a little bit of a southern diva in attitude but working on that.  If only they made cute workout shoes.  Oh, well my husband is a project management for a commercial constructon company and is the love of my life.  I'm just sorry it took me two other husband's to find that out.  Other than painting I also love to scrapbook with my friends and shop.  I have lost 85 lbs thereabouts and would love to lose another 30-35 lbs - we'll see - I am still grateful the 85 is gone!  I love the friends I have made here on OH I know that some of them are friends I will keep the rest of my life.  I'm grateful OH for having this place to come - not just when times are bad and I need support but for when times are good and I can be encouraging.

I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

Hi my name is Dannyell. I am 34 years old. I have 2 children (Bayley age 10 and Andrew age 6) I have been married to Butch for 12 1/2 years. He is a mechanic who is also studying to be an EMT. I just completed my Masters degree in Social Work last year and I am a CPS worker. I also have a small part time job. I am the youngest child and have many brothers and sisters. I am very close to my mother and love hanging out with my friends.
I had RNY 8/07 and have lost almost 150 lbs. I still have a ways to go till I make goal (according to Dr. Shina) so I am plugging along daily. I try to work daily to make good choices. I love to work out but since I took on the part time job it has been increasingly difficult to find time. This was the best possible choice for me and my family. Everyone asks if I have more energy now and for me it isn't different. I was always very active before so it seems to be the same.
I have made some good friends on this board. Everyone is very supportive and I have had nothing but good experiences. I hope that everyone can find the support that I have found.

Re-introducing...Marsha. I am 55 yrs (next month) and hd RNY on April 23, 2003. I have lost 130 lbs but regained 30 this last year. I am recommitting this week and am inspired by all on this website. It helped me immensely in 2003 and am sure it will again!  I have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Two who live near me and two who live in ID.

My husband is retired Army and we lived in south GA before moving to northern VA 5 yrs ago. We both work in downtown DC for govt and I can't believe we have a 28 mile commute one way - who would've thought?

Thanks to all for sharing...I appreciate the support group and believe we are all winners no matter how much or little we lose!
