Think I have a blockage

Sadly my Dr. has had to leave St. Luke and won't be at Georgetown until April 1st.
I however have a really really bad feeling that I have somehow either developed a blockage at the top of my band or it has slipped. The only thing that is staying down is literally fluids anything solid is back up in about five minutes no matter how fine I chew or mu**** up and excuse my language it hurts like hell and has been going on since last Sunday I have no idea what to do Saint Elizabeth and Saint Luke have merged so I don't know what doc I will get. Georgetown said I can come there and it will at least get a record established.
Any help is more than appreciated.
Thanks
Wendy

Sounds to me like you need to get somewhere sooner rather than later! You dont want to wait and end up with more serious damage!

ON the up side, at least you can get liquid down. Can you get protein shakes down and keep them down at all?

I really hope someone with some band experience comes along soon, maybe you should try posting on the lapband board for some quicker help, they move along much faster over there.  It seems to me (being ignorant of band things) that this is an emergency - I really hope you all your surgeon's office, surely he has partners who can answer your questions and send you in the right direction for some help.  It sounds terrible, please get yourself some good medical advice, from your surgeon, the hospital, your PCP, the band board but get some help.  Sorry I couldn't help more, but you are in my prayers Wendy - I really hope it gets better fast

I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

I agree.  I think I'd go on to the Dr.
I am not familiar with band issues either.
The good thing is that you are getting fluids down, so that should help prevent dehydration.
Take care and hope you feel better soon!

Wendy, have you had a fill at all yet?   It could be fill related or it could be a blockage.  If it is taking 5 minutes or so it does not sound like your band "slipped" (of course it could have) but it sounds like you are way too tight or something has obstructed your stoma.  If this has been happening since last week, I would go to the NEAREST hospital before you have erosion....continuous vomiting can cause erosion (reflux)

Edited to add "reflux and vomiting info"

Wendy, I am sorry you are having problems.  Dr. Tom put the realize band in my husband last June.   A couple of times he has gone through some weird stuff.  First he was to tight, I am guessing a fill isn't the issue since it's been going on for a week and Dr. Tom left several weeks ago now.
I can give you this information.  Here are the new numbers to his practice.  Steve begins working there tomorrow taking calls and setting up the office for April 1st when the doc arrives.
My suggestion would be to call down there to see what Steve has to say,...
Good Luck!!

Hi Brenda, as many band patients will tell you; the full restriction from a fill often takes 2-3 weeks to feel.  A fill can be done one day and the real "restriction" may not occur for several weeks.
Thanks, Sonja

Hey there Sonja.   You are absolutely correct..about this and the last post you made about seeking professional help,....I was thinking "slippage"..I read and replied to quickly.  What is important is seeking professional help right away..Thanks for the correction.
It will just be nice when Dr. Tom is settled in and can get back into the groove.  We all miss him!
