Vitamins taken by RNYer's

What brand of vitamins are taken by those of you who have had RNY directly after surgery?

I am looking at Bariatric Advantage Chewables.  I have read many good things about these vitamins.  I also know that chewable flinstones are NOT the way to go. So, if anybody would share with me what they took/take I would greatly appreciate it.  I also saw that they have capsules I will try later, but I was wondering just what others take or were told to take.

Thanks teach/sol

***Oh, and I think I have hit that "She sure is getting pesky phase", but I really do appreciate all your input.

opti-source  is what I took for about the first year, and so far all my bloodwork has came back fine, I am now taking a pre-natal vitamin, mostly due to the cost of the other ones, check out nestlenutrition their website, just goodle it, that is where I find the cheapest place to buy opti-source vitamins, and also good a coupon code for nestle nutrition, sometimes they have coupon codes. good luck, it won't be long!!!

Opti-Source all the way baby!
4 x's a day.

About a month ago, I added a B-12 vitamin each day.

For a short time, I took Biotin to try to prevent hair loss - it didn't work for me but it certainly helped fertilize those pesky hairs on my chin!!!!  So I stopped taking those.  lol

I actullay like taking my vitamins when I got home.  I referred to them as my little "cat treats".   It was the only thing I was allowed to chew so taking them was a treat for me  :)

Hey Teach!

This is my take on Optisource. They're a very convenient vitamin, as you only take it 4 x a day however they're costly and not complete. The type of calcium in Optisource is not recommended for RNY patients because we do not absorb it well. It has Calcium Carbonate, and we need Calcium Citrate. When we get older, we lose calcium naturally. And Calcium Carbonate will not cut it for us RNY'ers.  Not only that, they have both calcium and iron in them and those two things compete for absorption.
I would recommend finding a good chewable (if that's what you prefer) Centrum has a great chewable available at walmart/targets, etc. They're about 11 bucks a month (1/3 the price of Optisource).
My vitamin list is as follow: Prenatal, Calcium Citrate, B12 Sublingual, and SOMETIMES Iron. It's very hard on my stomach.

Good Luck!
Katrina
