Ok...I forgot to asks this at the group session and its really bugging me Since I don't know when I'll be going back and need to know soon. The lady said something about things you couldn't take 2 weeks before surgery and after surgery so many weeks. The one that I'm worrie about is the birth control...she said no birth control for 2 weeks before surgery....now this is where I'm really needing to know about it. I'm getting ready to have the Merina IUD. Its a form of birth control that has hormones in it. So is this something I don't have to worry about or Do I not need to have it done til after surgery??? Please someone help me find out...its really driving me nuts!

Hi Sebrena, my name is Stacey and I have had the lap band and I also have an IUD, I told them when I went for one of my check ups that I had it and was told that it wouldn't be a problem with the surgery, so just let them know next time you go in but it won't be a problem.

Hmmm, I wasn't told to stop taking anything... except the night before surgery. I take oral contraceptives....
I wouldn't think it would be a problem, if your that concerned give the office a call to make sure!!
Good Luck

I still think you should check with the Doc.  most have you stop taking blood thinners.  I didn't have to stop because my blood is like syrup and not the tasty kind of syrup.
