Had My Surgery Friday!

I can't really believe I actually have a band in me!  I've waited a year for this.  I was all ready to go home Saturday afternoon but had a fever so they wouldn't let me go.  I had to repeat the swallow study which wasn't that bad.  I came home this afternoon, Sunday.  They pumped me with so much IV fluid I went to the bathroom every 30 minutes all day Saturday.  I hadn't had any real food since Tuesday.  I had the clear liquids Wednesday and Thursday, Friday nothing, Saturday I had half a popsicle and then nothing until Sunday afternoon.  I'm not going to weigh for a day or so in case some of the IV fluids are still in me.  The visit would have been much better if I didn't have to stay longer.  Some of the nurses at Suburban didn't really know what they were doing which caused me some unneeded pain  (drawing blood, IV pump beeping all night long, etc.), but Sunday was better.  All this is going to be worth it, I just know it!  Now I need to figure out how to get my ticker going.

 Hey Dana,

Welcome to the losing side.  I hope you feel at least more comfortable being at home.  I had the same problem with some of the nurses too but overall the rest of the staff was kind and efficient.

Hope you can sleep and get some rest and take your time going back to work.  Let the family wait on you.  Be sure and come to support group the last Thurs. of the month so we can meet you.

Congratulations Dana!   I had bad experiences with the nurses at Suburban as well.  I also had some major complications in the beginning.  Eight months later . . . it was totally worth it!!!  I feel wonderful and I don't regret having the surgery for a second.  Hang in there... it takes time, but it WILL be worth it!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.  I am going to try and come to the Support Meetings when I can.  I have two small kids and it's a school night which makes it hard to juggle as I'm sure some of you know!

Hi Dawn
Glad you are home and doing ok.
Hope you continue to feel better everyday.
Bummer about the nurses...good to know though. I will be having surgery there soon, and that is frightening to me.  Hubby said he is going to stay over night in case I need something.
Did you consider telling Dr. Shina?  I will let him know this is a trend if it happens with me.
Keep on posting and let me know how life it going on the loosers bench is going!

Congrats!!!
