Surgery is Friday!

Hi, everyone, I haven't posted in a while, but I read this board's messages all the time.  I will be having lap band surgery with Dr. Shina on Friday!  I am so pumped and ready I can't stand it.  I have a whole counter full of protein drinks and soups ready for my 2 weeks of liquids.  I have not had a soft drink in 2 weeks and no caffeine for 1 week and I'm doing pretty good.  I was wondering how many of you don't drink any caffeine at all.

I can't weight to be a loser!  I can't lose any before surgery because I am right at 223 lbs. and at 5'2" 220 is the lowest I can go and be at a 40 BMI.

I am SO ready!  I have been researching this for one whole year and that's long enough!

Sounds like you ARE ready!  You've got a great surgeon - Dr. Shina was my surgeon too.  I know you'll do great!

I don't do caffeine anymore and it doesn't really bother me.  I was addicted to diet colas - used to drink 2 liters a day, but now I don't touch them or any other caffeine.   I thought I'd be really craving diet cola, but I don't really.

Good luck to you Friday!

I had the band as well, and I do SOME caffeine.   Nothing like previously but I do start every morning with a cup of hot tea (many times herbal and caffeine free, but occasionally I do chai tea that has caffeine).   I certainly do not process it the same way I processed coffee (if you get my drift) and I also occasionally drink a diet soda.  However, depending on how tight my band feels, the soda is a bad choice because of the carbonation, not the caffeine.  I went through caffeine withdrawal pre-op (migraines) and never want to do that again.  Good Luck and looking forward to seeing you on the bench!

First of all, good luck!

I had the GB RNY, but I didn't cut down on the caffeine for surgery. Obviously I cut out the soda, probably the first 9 months or so, then slowly started drinking them again after letting them "air out" LOL

I am backing off the caffeine right now, but that's so the baby go grow big and strong. I'm 6 months along so I can have more than the first few months, but still trying to control it or I can't sleep.

Anyway, good luck, God Bless, and keep us posted!!

Good luck!!!

We'll scoot over to make room for you on the bench!

Oh yeah, I'm a caffeine drinker.  I always start my day off with my homemade latte.  I have no limitations on caffeine per Dr. Larson (well they did tell me not to drink the whole pot) and my opinion is that if I have to give up sugar and bubbles (I'm not good at that one either) then by golly I'm keeping the caffeine
