I have no idea what the patients of Dr Tom are going through, I can't even image. I just wanted to chim in and give you another persons perspective. I am a patient of Dr Dwayne Smith. I had open RNY on June 21, 2005 at 268 lbs (after losing 10) today just shy of my 4 yr anniv I am 150-155 and absolutly the healthiest I have been in my life. Though Dr Smith may not be the looker (sorry Dr Smith) that Dr Tom is I felt that since I wasn't looking to sleep with him his experience in the gastro field in addition to the number of successful RNY (my surgery of choice) surgeries that he had performed prior to my surgery, spoke for itself. You do have to like your doctor however I went in without any negative vibes and very open minded. I am in no way trying to add salt to wounds or sway anyone one way or the other. I simply wanted to show that no matter what doc you choose it is ultimately up to you to determine your success. Have a great day and I wish you all the best.

Oh and while I'm here this is the current me

thanks Dr Smith for the tool!

Agreed. We all looked around and choose the Dr of our own choice. This didn't say anything against another Dr, just for one reason or another each of us made our own decision.

LB or RNY are just tools. It is ultimately up to us to make the difference.

Sorry, what does a person wanting to sleep with Dr Tom or not have to do with anything? Yes he's handsome, but that has nothing to do with why he was my surgeon.

I'm not really sure why you felt that statement was needed.

Glad you're doing so well, no matter who your doctor is/was, though.

no offense intended... I had a couple people that've i've known comment on Dr. Smith's personality (dry I guess to some) and others on Dr S looks so basically it was a reduced comment on the statements I've had personally. My joke to all of them (people i've incountered personally) was that I didn't mind his lack of personality or looks, I wasn't trying to sleep with him (since those are likely the things we look for in a mate), I simply thought he was the "best" doctor for me. Sorry if it didn't come across that way in text but since I don't know you personally I wasn't refering to you or why you chose your doc at all.
