LeeAnn is doing ok
I was with LeeAnn after see got in her room and settled in. She was in some pain and they were only giving her oral pain medication. Her incisions where minimal 2 little incisions we could find about the size of the larger of the lapband incisions. I got there and she had spilled her water and her jello and she was upset cause the jello was her favorite Lime. They brought her supper but she got stuck on it and her throat was sore to boot. I left a little before 6PM and I got a text a while ago that Dale came and brought her some chloroseptic spray and a rootbeer float. She looked good though for going through the surgery better than I think I would be.
LeeAnn is a tuff one I tell you and she is such a sweetheart.
I will check on her tomorrow and if she isnt released I will go see her tomorrow also.

POOR THING!! I'd ***** up a storm if I were her or Dale....oral pain meds simply isn't enough. I had an order for IV morphine (and dilauded I think) PRN q 2 hours for a measely gall bladder!
Maybe my offer for some rum would have actually came in handy!
Good for Dale getting the spray chloroseptic and root beer float. That spray is something I always recommend to pre-ops when they ask what they should take with them since more times then not the breathing scratches going in or out.....Kelly, got that?
If she stays tomorrow as well I'm going to try and get over there myself.

The nurse aide came in and I said I think she needs something for pain and she looked at Lee Ann said do you need pain med and LeeAnn said yes. This was like 5:30 and she had not had any since 1PM that is just uncalled for in my opinion
I took her up a big boquet of flowers hoping that would brighten up her evening. I hope she has a good night she was pretty sore

I found out when I was in the hospital after delivering Gracie and having my tubal that the nurses are not allowed to ask is we WANT narcotic pain meds (this was norton's Suburban in 2002 so I'm sure things COULD have changed by then). A VERY HELPFUL nurse clued me in that I had to ASK for drugs. I have always remembered that and now am forward in asking for pain meds as I see fit. I normally ask what the order is for medications and keep track of it in my head.
To this day I have vivid memories of wimpering in a fetal position as they moved me from an LDR suite to a reg room each time they hit a threshold. A kind nurse made them stop in the hall before I actually left LDR and gave me a small dose of IV morphine. She said this was all she could do for me but to be VOCAL about my pain once I got to a reg floor.
Poor Lee Lee, I wish I had thought to tell her this. I just assume most people know what I know...
I will text her in the AM

Did you have a C Section???? I had natural child birth and no pain medication before during or after and I walked from the delivery recovery room to my actual room, they checked me in my room and I was out in the outside lobby smoking a cigarette after that lol that was 24 years ago.... no pain medication then I am going to smoke a cigarette lol
No C-secton but I went from delivery to surgery for my tubal ligation before the epidural wore off. I woke up in recovery in more pain than I could ever imagine....didn't realize I had to ASK for pain meds. Hopefully that's not a universal protocol but it kinda looks like Floyd Memorial does it that way too.
