Anyone in the mood to give me cut and color advice?
I'm toying with the ideal of doing something radically different with my hair when I get it done next week and I need someone to talk me out of it if they think it's a bad bad idea!
As most of you know I have natural curly hair and it's always been long (typically shoulder length or better). The color usually comes from a bottle and right now It's a brunette with modest caramel highlights.
I think I'm wanting to go super short, perhaps a stacked doo and maybe go back to a darker red color with chunky golden hi-lights. I do not like to straighten my curls so my options are limited.
The few times in the past that I did go short I regretted it BUT I was always heavier than I am now so maybe being slimmer will make a difference? Short curls are also a hassle because they are tighter and frizz up if I'm not carefull (picture Rosanna-ana-dana). The length weighs down the curl.
Right now I'm of the mind that hair is not static (it always grows) and if I hate it I'll have some of my length back by Fall. I'm only a little hesitant right now because I know it'll be a very long summer if I end up with a hairstyle that I hate.
Here's a picture of me taken 5 months ago. My hairstyle is exactly like this right now except not red:

Here are a few options that I'm considering:

OK, I think y'all get the idea of what I'm considering. So good idea? Bad idea? Any suggestions on a new color or different cut? I'm open to anything other than something that would require me to straighten my hair (it's such a chore)....
Help!!
This is the first time I've ever had short, basically no-maintenance hair and I love it! But I don't have the curls problem. Do you have a hairdresser you REALLY trust? The one thing my hairdresser told me is that if you go dark red and have any gray at all, your roots will show in about 2 weeks! I know that's too often for me to get a touch-up, so I opted for blond - that way my gray sort of blends in until it doesn't (it takes about 6 weeks). Good luck - it's a fun adventure and it's only hair - like you said, it will grow back if you don't like it!
I totally agree with Vicki...second picture...and go for the color! I love dark red and I think you could pull it off. My only concern, with summer coming, is the humidity and your short CURLY hair...PUFF! That's my only concern about it being short.

Hi !! I haven't posted on here in a while, not because I don't like you all or enjoy reading the posts... i do... I have just been swamped!! I am taking 7 classes this semester and working full time, i barely have time to breath! anyway, I just recenlty had my hair colored and have gotten more complements than I ever have. It's a dark auburn with chunks (about pencil width) of caramel. i really like it and I think it would look good on you too. just a suggestion. good luck and let us know what you decide to go with. Oh and for straightening, i know you said you don't like to but the Chi straightner works great.. it's a little expensive (about $139) but it's wonderful and does not take long at all. My 14 year old daughter is bi racial so she has that in between hair texture that tends to get frizzy.. the CHI works wonders on it. My hair is straight as a board but i still use the CHI to smooth it out.
From one naturally curly girl to another:
Number 1 is cute, but Meg Ryan probably has 10 people working on her hair just to get it to look like that.
Number 2 and 3 are very cute, but seem to me like they will take alot of work (those curls were definitely helped by a curling iron!).
Foget number 4... wishful thinking!
Number 5 is cute, and could work with your hair texture.
Number 6, are you kidding me? Are you going to hide in the house every time it rains??Humidity is not your friend!
Number 7 is easy, just wash your hair, put no product in it, blow dry it straight and then stand in a sauna!!
Hard to see Number 8, but it looks real cute!
Number 9 is real pretty, but could be alot of work as well.
For me... short curly hair is alot more work than long curly hair, but it is real cute! When mine hair is short it is really, really thick! Your hair texture seems a little less heavy than mine, so these styles may work better for you.
My criteria is usually that I whatever I do, I am still able to pull my hair up off my face and neck when I am hot.
Your 're so pretty, no matter whatever you do you will look great, it is just a matter of how much time you want to dedicate to your hair everyday.
