ACCOUNTABILITY Tuesday 2-24-09
I made it to work today even it was for a short time. My blood sugar had dropped to 76 about an hour after I ate and I started feeling a little weak. Went to the Dr. and she ordered more lab work and I am wearing a heart monitor thing for 24 hrs. The worst part is that I can't shower until they take it off at 4pm tomorrow!!!!! I asked if I could at least wash my hair in the sink and was told yes.........just to not get the wires wet! I can see me in the morning trying to get ready, wash the important parts, and try to feel and look professional enough to go to work!
One good thing...........I am going on light duty work for 2 weeks until all of my test results are back in. My supervisor has been wonderful during all of this so I can't ask for any better.

Gosh, Leslie - I hope you're going to be alright! I've worn one of those heart monitors several years ago and didn't have any symptoms at all of the heart fluttering that I was experiencing. It hasn't happened to me in years now - I wonder if I just had anxiety problems causing it or if it was one of those woman things - perimenopause things or something. Anyway, I'm glad your supervisor is being good to you and that you are going on "light duty".
I've been reading your posts (and everyone elses too) with your food intake for the day. I have tried the daily plate site and don't like using that - would rather just use a book and paper and pencil. Do you know of a book that has protein grams listed that you recommend? I haven't been keeping a record and initially thought the daily plate would be great, but I tired of having to get online for everything I eat. I used to write my meals down for WW years ago - I guess I want something simple and fast like that with a book to look up the nutrition values.
Take care - and be well!
Hugs,
Cindy
I think my Dr. is just checking my heart as a precaution - it is really the blood sugar level that keeps dropping and I think she is just ruling out other causes for that.
I don't have a book that I use for protein amounts. I simply write them from the food labels. For any amount of meats, I aim for 3 oz. which is usually 20 g of protein (the size of a deck of cards)! That keeps is simple and easy for me.
I don't use the daily plate because I simply don't have the time.
Keep up the good work!
