Protein question for Banders...
How much protein are you suppose to eat a day and what is your favorite type? I am trying to incorporate more protein now so that when I have surgery, I'll be use to it. I'm also trying to not drink with meals to get use to that too. (That is a toughfy for me!!) Any other things I can start working on now that will have to change later? Thanks for your help!!

I HATE HATE HATE most protein powders so I strive to get my protein in food. Dr. Larson's patients are told 60 grams or more of protein per day.
The more solid the meat the longr it will stick with you and you wont be hungry.
I try to eat really lean beef, chicken and fish.
My favorite protein treat is shrimp ****tail. For every ounce of shrimp you get 7 grams of protein. A 5 ounce serving is over half your daily protein alottment!
Tuna also packs a protein punch, although I don't remember the numbers right now!

Thanks, Becka. I have been reading a lot of labels lately and comparing the protein in items before purchasing. I LOVE shrimp. I'm glad to see you can eat them. I read in the info a while ago that shrimp could get stuck and that made me sad. I love all seafood, so that was not good news. You made me happy!

I know it's going to be a life changing thing that I am going to have to work at. I thought it might be better to add one thing at a time now, so it's not a shock to the system later! I tell you, being on these boards has helped a lot, too. You all are great with sharing your information. Everyday I look at the accountibility threads to get an idea of what everyone is eating.

hi kelly,
my dietian told me 70 for women and 80 for men a day, i like the unjury and i mix it with a little bit of sf dry pudding mix, you can get that in any flavor, and i also use powder dairy whip to make mine thick, i also found sf syrups in the coffee section in walmart, this adds a lot of flavor, taste like milkshake, i also found sf cappichino mix in vanilla, really good. don't know about the calories though. i haven't had my surgery yet but im getting ready too. i had my surgery on my knee, had that done on friday, still hurts a little, but feeling better.
hope this helps alittle tammy
