Hey everyone I was just wondering how long after surgery that everybody continued to use their incentive spirometer. I had my surgery on 2/4 and have been home since 2/6. Due to being worried that I will develop pneumonia, I have used that thing 10 to 12 times a day. For how long after surgery do you guys think that we are at risk for stuff like that? Also is it normal to be worried about stuff, I mean I worry that something is going to go wrong, that I'm going to get sick, second guessing my self about surgery, just lots and lots of worries. Also another question, when I was approved for surgery my bmi was 36.6, and so from what I read online it looked like my weight loss would be a little slower than otherwise. When they weighed me at the hospital they said that I weighed 223 ( I don't think that's right, I think it was lower) and then when I weighe d myself today my scale says 210, on sunday I think it said 218. Is that even possible?

I had my RNY the day before yours and to tell you the truth I only used my spirometer while I was in the hospital. I've coughed some since but can breathe pretty deeply without pain. I still worry about getting a serious illness or right now falling a bleeding (I'm on blood thinner for a few more days) so I think that's all normal. I'm worried about what it will be like when I eat solid food and what can I eat. Your weight loss seems pretty rapid- I think I've only lost about 7 lbs. How are you feeling? I'm still sore and tire easily but doing well and everybody says I look good so I'll take their word and keep doing a little more each day.
Just wanted you to know you're not in this alone and we're so close in days in this new life we have a lot in common.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who worries about stuff. I'm feeling pretty good, but I overdid the other day and now i'm paying for it. I haven't taken any of the pain meds, have you needed it? So far for me it's more about the worry than about any kind of pain. I'm still having some gas, are you? Take care of yourself, and i'm sure in a month or two we will both look back and know that we have made a great decision one that will improve our overall health

As long as you are up and walking, you should be fine.
Everyone loses at a different rate and yours sounds like it is in the normal range.
Don't worry! The hard part is over. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!
