We made it...

Hi everyone
We are all fine; hubby, son, and b-i-l, and me.  The dog and cat made it too.
We were without power for 7 days and it was crazy cold.
I actually got all my food into coolers within the 6 hours so we still have most of our food, because--of course-- I had shopped at the Sams and commissary the day before and had a ton of food. I did not however loose most of that.
WE slept in our clothes and hats...all you could see was a strip for our eyes out of the covers and hats.  I was like a ninja. he he
I was given wood after all the logs I had were used up.  Then I got two ricks of wood delievered -to myself and our elderly neighbors.  And then we had a bit more warmth.  The ground floor actually hit 41 degrees after the fire was lit.
The last night we found a place that would take our pets and stayeed there so I could get a shower and come out to a warm room.... our house was like 35 degrees inside the upstairs bedrooms.
I just wanted to say Hi and let you all know we made it.
thanks for checking on me- Sandi and Tiffany, and Dannyell

Well, I'm sure you would rather not have gone through all that but you officially have bragging rights for having the toughest week on this board!

If you're anything like me though, once you finally thaw out (like August maybe?) you'll laugh everytime you think back on this.

So glad you're back up and running again!

I went 7 days without power but that was September and the wind storm.  No AIr, but hubby learned to live without and take cold showers...I went to the gym.  Hardest thing was no refrig, no food and the local resturant had limited menus if they were open.  Don't think I could handle the cold.  I would have gone to a hotel and had my insurance pick up the bill.  Day 1-3 were kinda fun but by day 5 I was ready to kill anyone from Duke.  Hope you are warm now.  AMy

Hi, I am new around here.  I am so glad you have power again.  No more natural disasters please.  Winds storms, Ice storms...

I was without power till Sunday night.  I deserted my huband.  He stayed home with the fireplace and the animals to keep the pipes from freezing.  I went and had some BFF time.  Someone that had power turned back on gave us a generator by that really cold night.  It is all over, but my house was trashed.  It felt so good to sleep in my own bed.

Glad you guys are all warm again.

Hi all
Thanks for your kind words...
DH is doing ok.
We are cleaning up the aftermath...the house is a wreck and the laundry has piled up.  I have to restock the fridge....I cleaned it when the power was off.
We lost a swing set and there are many, many downed branches in the backyard.  We have a friend who will be helping us clean- as DH is on an absolutely NO LIFT restriction and he knew that and he is willing to help.
Little man was wonderful. I cannot believe it only took him ONE day to leave the ninetendo behind and go out and help- or play. He was certainly a trooper. I was proud.
I cannot seem to get warm, but I think that will only come with time.
We thank you all for your concern and thoughts and prayers- we needed all of them
