I had my first fill went great !!!
Hi Gwen, the band goes in empty unless it is a 14 cc band...and sometimes doc does prefill that one some... (that is my understanding). I know my doc never prefills the realize band because post-op you get some restriction due to swelling and irritation from surgery...and the fear is if they prefill it you could be WAYYYY too tight post-op from the swelling and irritation of the surgery and placement of the band.
Great to hear your fill went well and that you are already feeling some effects. Everyone is a little different; I usually have the hiccups, and feel "tight" for a couple of days, then I "rebound" and have little restriction for about a week and then for some reason about 2 weeks post fill I begin to really feel the effects of the fill.
Good Luck!

Another bandster "right of passage" under your belt.
Like Sonja mention not all doc "prime" their bands when they insert them. From my reading on OH the realize band is usually always put in with any fluid on the day of surgery.
I have a 4cc band and hubby has the 10cc band and our doc did prime our band, meaning he added enough fluid to take up the air space but did not inflate it.
Just remember that anything lost before you reach the point of restriction is solely due to your diet efforts. Slowly though the balance will tip and that band will help you do what it was intended! So in my book, given that you have no restriction and made it through the holidays and all this nasty weather without a gain.....you are a winner!!
