Yes, I had triple thoughts... lol... But I knew I had to do something.. I could not get the weight off on my own... Well I could get some off, but then gain MORE back... horrible cycle.... It's definately normal having second thoughts...

Tammy you are gonna hear all the horror stories on every type surgery. Thats why you need to read and research! I had second thoughts...especially when my port flipped and I had gone 8 months with no real benefits from my band. But I kept the faith and now it is working with me and restriction has arrived! No matter what surgery you decide on or don't...we will support ya!

Were the people that were talking againest the surgery patients themselves or were they just going on what they've heard thru the grapevine?

I had non WLS people telling me all sorts of crazy crap. Just do your research & ask a million questions. Then make an educated decision for yourself. For me, like Dawn, it boiled down to either I have surgery & lose weight or I keep eating & die.

You have many people here who will support you, listen to you and help you in any way we can.

Tammy anyone in the right mind would have second thoughts about having surgery.  Bottomline after all is said and done, you have to do what is right for you after carefully considering the pros and cons.  Obviously we felt it was right for us and as long as we are working with the band or whatever type wls we chose it is working with us.

I wish you the best in your decision.  However for what it's worth.  I did not let my well meaning friends and family talk me out of what I believed to be in my best interest.  I have not regretted my decision.  Whatever you do make it a decision you won't regret.  Scared, yes I was but it was fear that it would not work.  Like any new journey, we fear the unknown though many have travelled the path before us.

Take care,

Z

Tammy,
If it is any consolation, I am scheduled for surgery this Friday, 1/30/09, and too have had a serious case of cold feet.  haha  However, after tossing "to and fro" about the decision, realized I have reached the point I really NEED something to help "jumpstart" me toward a healthier and leaner me.  Soooooo, here I am, with excitement and anxiousness, again looking forward to Friday.  Isn't it great to have such wonderful encouragers on this forum to help us through whatever we are facing!!!!

Peaceful and calming thoughts to you!

Hi Tammy,

I am exactly a week out before my RNY surgery and cold feet is an understatement but I'm more excited then scared and just wishing it were over.  The important thing to remember is this journey is one you make yourself and you earn every pound you lose.  I hope just the mobility and health aspects will be enough for me to be glad I made the decision and you'll get nothing but support and good advice.  Keep checking back often and ask lots of questions.
