Met Dr Husted today for DS consult

Had my consult today with Dr Husted down in Somerset.  He is a very sweet man. Basically we just discussed that I'm a good candidate for DS and that hopefully he'll be able to do it Lap.  I had open rny.  I've got to do some test.  Blood test for diabetes, sleep apnea testing again (was positive before and I think it's back since I've regained) and go from there.  I hope when all's said and done Anthem will approve me.  I'm pretty pooped from the drive down and back but all in all it was a good morning. I have some more testing down there Feb 10, pysch eval and something else. I'm getting my family doc to set up blood work for diabetes test and the sleep apnea.  Going thru all this again makes me wish I'd been able to do the DS 4 yrs ago but thats ok, u live and learn.

The erosion stuff going on in my pouch causing my reflux issues isn't as bad as it could be down the road, hopefully everything will be better after the DS.

Congrats girl on your consult - I know you have been having a hard time.  I really hope the revision goes well

Did Dr. Husted say he could convert your pouch to a sleeve?  I think that is the key to helping your reflux issues.  I know you chose a great doctor - there is a man in our Kentuckiana DS group who used Dr. Husted when he was in Nashville.  I know the DS is a great surgery - and I hope your revision goes well!

I see Dr. Husted. He did not do my surgery but he does my fills.  One thing though, I had an Upper GI done 3 wks ago today and still haven't gotten the results!! I have called several times and the receptionist told me that the DR would call me for sure yesterday. Did not happen though!

Look forward to meeting and working with you on next visit! You will have an overview test with me to check your knowledge.  Yes, Dr. Husted can change the bypass pouch to a bigger pouch if needed. As a revision specialist he custom designs his revision procedures to meet the needs specific to the patient. He has converted many gastric bypasses (failed for various reasons) to DS and these patients have done very well. Wi****oo had known bout DS back in 2002 when I took the plunge with gastric bypass. Oh well...it's available should I need it.
