struggles with food x-post with band board too
Wow it has been along time since I have felt like Im "struggling" with food.. I recently got a tweak on my band and I have decent enough restriction for me.. Im happy with it anyway.. But the snacking... UGHHH!! REALLY? What happen to that dedicated lap-bander who didnt cheat, didnt snack?? She isn't here thats for sure.
How do I get that mentality I had those first 9 months back?? What do I need to do to get it? I know follow the rules, listen to your body, my mind just isnt following the signals.. so how do I get back on track.?? Im looking for answers... hopefully I will find them..

I wish there was a magic word I could say to help ya girl. I went thru some struggles around Christmas with all the goodies but I luckily snapped out of it quick.
9 months of doing as well as you did is an awesome thing and many cant even say that. Try not to beat yourself up over it. Im sure before ya know it, you'll be right back on track!!

wow Dawn. I don't know. I usually ask myself the following:
Are you bored when you are snacking? If so, find something to do - organizing my closet is a favorite! I usually find some piece of clothing that reminds me that I want to fit in it or not outgrow it.
Is it situational snacking? At the computer? TV? Ball game?
What about stress?
Can you chew gum instead of eat?
Brush your teeth to make you not want to eat?
I know you do great keeping up with your intakes. What about pre-planning meals and snacks. That way you can allow for snacks and not feel deprived.
Good luck and I am sure you will be back on track in no time!

ohhhhh leslie. I like the brush your teeth idea.. Now thats a idea.. I use to grab water and chug it instead but im getting my water in and still snacking! ughhh!! I think its because Im not at work.. I havent been home this long without working since the 6 weeks after my surgery.. I need sunlight!
Traci christmas started it.. I was always so anal about my snacks and meals and now that I have all this time on my hands I dont know what to do with it!!
Im putting it out there for you all so that maybe something will fall into place!!

girl if you figure it out let me know.... I have near the same problems.. I am now using celery and grapes and oranges and cucumbers to satify my eating when I want to snack.. and to get the sweet satifaction I use peanut butter on my celery. Now if I can just stay away from the Mike and Ikes I will be ok

See why I stay so busy when I am at home! I have such a hard time with snaking and straying! I grabbed a handful of cheetos this weekend and boy were they good. Were they worth the cheating though? Nope. So Saturday I went to the store and got me some apples, red pears, and yellow squash! I had the squash and grilled fish Saturday for dinner...man was it good! But then that night...here came sarah with a cup of ice cream. Then dale with and ice cream cone. I was dying people! I gave in....my will power failed me and I gave in! I try to justify that I will do extra exercises Sunday to make up for it....My psych is so far off track its unreal!
I TRY to go by the rule of "I can't eat it if I don't bring it in the house." Of course given that Gracie has no wieght concerns (she's only in the 40th percentile for weight still) and is a kid afterall I do buy her limited treats and have to contend with those. I can tolerate those being in the house so long as they are individually packaged and UNOPENED....as soon as those 100 calorie pack of doritos breath air they seduce me! Let's not even get started on Little Debbie's!
I am also thinking now that MR. Entertainment has MUCHO RESTRICTION and isn't eating junk all night long I will be better behaved myself.
It's 4pm and all I've had today is:
3 sausage balls
3 pieces of sushi
1 skinny cow pop
my coffee/milk combo
Tonight we're having Walmart cheese and bacon stuffed chicken breast and steamed veggies.
I am also thinking now that MR. Entertainment has MUCHO RESTRICTION and isn't eating junk all night long I will be better behaved myself.
It's 4pm and all I've had today is:
3 sausage balls
3 pieces of sushi
1 skinny cow pop
my coffee/milk combo

Awww Dawn, I know how you feel.. I too went through this after the holidays... It went on for about 3 weeks.... for me... Mine has alot to do with "MY CYCLE" too.. Certain times of the month..ya know.....
Also I think not working is a big thing for you.. Your used to being busy with work, and now your home.... Hmmmm any home projects you can get yourself into ??? Do you do any crafts, or scrapbooking??
I hope this phase goes by quickly for you... but hey you went 9 months without one.... You'll get back.. I know you will....
The other thing is you could go get some BBQ pork, eat it too quick and get it stuck ( like I did) and feel crappy for 6 hours, then you'd be scared to eat anything for a while..LOL.. ( kidding)...

I went to the store to pick up essentials in case of ice and the candy isle kept calling my name. I do not plan to go back to the store for a while.
