Dr. Sonnanstine

I just wanted to jump in here and clarify a few things.

I am sorry I don't get on here often.  I am now working long hard hours at the Breast Center and am pretty much out of the Bariatric scene.   As you now know why.....Dr. Tom is leaving St. Luke.

Dr. Sonnanstine and I are and will always remain friends..with that being said he and I talk often..Today we spoke about what was stated here that evidently started the phone calls and emails to me..and I see here I have several msgs on OH.

so here goes..Dr. Tom did turn in his resignation..the hospital accepted it..  The reason, I believe has been very clear to most of us.  The hospital simply is not giving him what he deserves.  He has worked very hard for SLH...brought in a lot of money and worked hard to make the program what it is today.  And still the hospital never markets him or the center.  He has a passion to teach but cannot do so..he has a passion to grow in the industry yet is held back.  He is disappointed and frustrated, he feels his patients -the center as a whole deserves more.
You also know that Dr. Sonnanstine teaches all over the world..with this recognition he has been pursued by hospitals all over the country...and even one outside the U.S. ..until lately he had never thought of leaving as he has always been possessive of his patients and the center..after all it's his baby..from the beginning.
right now he feels he has to do what is best for him and his family...He hopes to have your support and kindness.
His present contract states that he will give a 6 month notice..therefore he will not be leaving until early summer.
As for a new contract elsewhere...no contract has been signed ...I promise when things are settled I will post...
Until then, good night my friends..keep the doc in your thoughts..as he moves on in his life and
within the industry...those of us who were fortunate to have him in our lives need to support him completely...

Brenda, thank you so much for clarifying this.  We are also very possessive of Dr Tom LOL.  Of course, we grieve his loss and well as embrace Dr July and understand family comes first, always.  It is tough to let go of such a gifted and talented doctor yet respect him all the more for doing what is right for his wife and children.
Thanks, Sonja

I post a comment not to long ago before finding this or I would have asked you first. I called today and talked to one of the nurses that works with Sonnanstine and she told me no they wasn't moving...just to the other side of the building is as far as they are going...could you please check and let me know. I need to know since I'm suppose to go see him around the first of Feb. Thanks Hope all is well

Sebrena I think I am a little confused about your question.  Dr. Sonnanstine is leaving the hospital and the center.  There is no change to the center as far as location.  Yes, they are building on the the hospital around back where the Tristate Surgical Weight Loss center will be re-located.  And for now the plan is Dr. Sonnanstine will be there until probably June.

One of the nurses told me this information so I wasn't sure. So what is he gonna do about his paitents that he's done surgery on and is about to do surgery on? Just wondering. Sorry to hear that he's leaving though. I have another question by the way. You know the upper GI that they do before they will do Lap band? Is it true that medical card only allows you one a year. Because I just got a call from Sonnanstine's office reqesting that I don't eat or drink anything after midnight to have the Upper GI done. I've already had that done by a different doctor. Just wondering if this is true. Hope all is well

My husabnd who is a patient of Dr. Tom and I just heard he left suddenly. Is there any truth to this and why would he have left before his six month period?
