I have lost my insurance!

Girls, I lost my insurance. I had medicaid so I dropped my Humana with school where I work. So the other day I go for a recert for the medicaid and they tell me that I make too much money to get it now. I make .08 more cents than last year. My total income is sad. I am hoping that school will get me hooked back up with Humana. Plus I just got home from the hospital a little earlier for my blood pressure. Now on blood pressure meds. What a life. I know that I should be thankful to be breathing. Hope all of ya are doing well.

did you miss out on open enrollment - if so you need to get into your Benefits Director first thing on Tuesday morning to see if you qualify under a hardship - I really hope they help you out!  Hate to think you have to go a whole year with no insurance.

I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

I am so sorry to hear that Becky.
Can you appeal the decision?  Or re-apply?  Maybe even change jobs that offer better insurance?

Hope thing work out for you and you get some type of insurance coverage soon!
Keep your head up.

Thanks girls. If it's not one thing its another. My family doctor doesn't take Humana so if I do get it back I will have to get another doctor. So I don't know. Hey, Leslie I have been feeling really bad from my blood pressure being up and not knowing what caused me to feel bad I wasn't even aware that the meeting had past. Maybe one of these days I'll make it. lol You all looked like you had a really good time.

Becky,

I hope everything works out with your insurance.   With your insurance dropping you, it looks like this would fall under a qualifying event.  Make sure you do contact your insurance coordinator as quickly as possible.  They can tell you for sure.  Hope everything works out okay.

Hi Becky,

When you went for your recert and got the news did they mention anything about a spend down program??  It's been years since I dealt with the whole SSI/SSDI/Medicaid/Medicare scene but I do remember there was a spend down program where if you track your valid expenses and show a deficit you could possibly get back on the side of the income line you want to be on for your medicaid again.....or was the spend down program for medicare??  Whichever it may be call the medicaid office back and dig for info!

THANKS, BECKA!
I will call Tuesday. Someone else had mentioned a spend down program but I hadn't checked into it yet. I will get on that. My medicine alone is outrageous, if I have to pay out of pocket then I will be working for nothing. I don't make anything now. Here is my story, My husband is legally blind and the only work he ever done was being a truck driver. Well the CDL program would not allow him to take the test because of his eyesight. So now he draws SSI. My children get  medicaid due to lack of income. I make less than $10,000 a year and together  we probably bring home close to $20,000. Plus I am in school because of my job. Thank GOD we own our home or we would probably be living in the projects. I don't believe my case worker cares whether or not her job is done as long as she brings home her paycheck. Anyway, I am gonna try on Tuesday to stir up some answers.

Becky, don't stop until you get some answers!
I think the whole Medicaid system is fickle at best.
I will still have Medicaid until March 31, 09 UNLESS I quit my job.. How messed up is that?!?

Isn't it funny the government help those who stay home, have baby after baby but women who work and try to help improve their lives cannot get any assistance. Welfare reform is a joke.  I don't want a handout, there are no jobs around here to work at that would pay women enough to have other types of insurance. I just get so aggravated thinking about it, makes it hard to type and say what I want to say straight. All my thoughts run together and I make no sense.lol
