First 80.5 pounds lost with 3cc's in a 14 ccband now at 7cc's in 14cc band
Hey Dawn,
Just saw this a minute ago and went immediately and posted. I went with a friend a seminar in a hospital and this doctor said the same thing nearly. Told them to expect to lose maybe 60 pounds in a year. I told her after we'd left that if a doctor said that to me, I never would have had the surgery. I am so glad that I was not discouraged by my doctor, like this guy at the seminar, before I lost the weight.
And, by the way, when I was walking into the seminar with my friend, the nurse tried to hand me a packet so I know I've got a way to go on my weight loss journey. haha

Me too. And what's really sad is except for this one mistake, in my book anyhow, he was very knowledgeable. My friend was going to him as her surgeon but he was too busy so she's going to one of his partners. I hope this guy is better informed about that part. I can't get over the discouragement that some of these doctors give to their patients.
I should have told her that if I had come to the seminar the year before, I wouldn't have been able to fit in the seats. I guess since I still have 61 pounds to go, I still needed the seminar. And in all fairness, there were some people smaller than me in there. I can't believe their BMI's would be high enough for the surgery though.

You know Laura, I was one of the smallest in my seminar, I just hid it better I guess.. They say surgery is the easy way out but Some people get it and just dont need it.. I dont understand that.. My soon to be sister in law wanted it and did not even have a 35 bmi.. But she also has heart problems too.. U have done amazing and are blowing those band stats out of the water!! My mother in law wants to try ZUMBA.ahhaaa..
We are suppose to join the Y tommorrow if her heart doc says its ok...
