An unusual pain
I have long had a pinched nerve on the left outside of my leg that was intnese but lessened as I gained weight (I assume it went dead). But now that I am losing weight, not only has it returned but I also have one in the same area on my right leg. After walking in the mall and standing in a slow checkout line, my leg was burning to the point that I HAD to sit until it went away. Has anyone else encountered this?
John I have had pains in the legs and some in the back, first of all Dr said my weight is shifting as I lose weight and it didnt help when I jumped off a chair and pinched 2 nerves in my back.
But as you lose the weight sometimes the excess skin and fat more in the body in my case the tummy has shifted downward so causing some mobility and pain at times

Hi John - not sure if it's the same thing but I had that pain as well, my doctor told me it was sciatic nerve (sp?). It went away with weight loss and I haven't felt it in a long while now, I was going to go to the chiropractor if it kept coming back. Hope it gets better for you soon.
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you. Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information. Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

Hey there,
I am 15 years post op for 2 ruptures discs that had my sciatic completely pinched to where I had no control from the hip down on one side. I have chronic residual nerve damage where the toes and back calf of that leg are semi-numb (think Novocaine) but not painful....that is until I started getting more active as I lost weight. With this statement I mean doing silly things NOT exercising which will strengthen core muscle and actually reduce pain after a few weeks. The changes in posturing as I've lost weight has made the old sciatic talk to me as well.
It does get better but do have a chiro or ortho (or both) take a look at you to be sure it's not something they can alleviate.
In my case, I take a daily anti-inflammatory along with a zantac and a glass of milk to coat the tummy and keep it healthy. I have a standing order for darvocet but truly only use it 2 or 3 times a month now instead of daily!
Keep the faith that it will get better!
