surgery question
my mother is planning on getting the lapband, with Dr. Allen. She went and had a ultrasound down of her stomach ordered by her regular Dr. and found out that she has gallstones. They are wanting to do surgery to remove her gallbladder. i would like to save her a surgery. i understood when i got my lapband surgery Dr. Allen would take my gallbladder out at the same time if i had problems with it prior to my lapband surgery. Does anyone know if this is still true? or would having gallstones stop her from having the lapband? i rather her have 1 surgery to take care of 2 problems.

I do not have a clue but my advice would be...ask Dr A! He will give ya the definite answer. When do you see him again? I have an appt on the 15th...you want me to ask him?
My surgeon removed my gallbladder and appendix while she was in there! I was happy about that as I will not need to be opened up for either of those things in the future. Dunno about the lapband thing though, I'm a DS patient, I'm sure your surgeon can answer those questions!
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you. Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information. Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.
