knee pain
I don't have arthritis but I know I have less knee, ankle and foot discomfort since my RNY.
I would think that by simply losing weight, no matter what procedure, is beneificial to our joints as we aren't carrying around all that excess weight.
Good luck to you and hope your arthritis eases up.

My husband had really bad joint pain in his knees & hips. He was weighed 357 on the day of surgery. He always comments about how WLS was so beneficial especially to his joints. Mind you he was only 35 years old and walked around like a 60 yr old. So unless you have years of damage, Im sure WLS of some type would bound to help. Good luck on your diet!

I had a left knee meniscal repair about 5 months before I was banded and they found TONS of arthritis in that knee during the surgery. I'm only 42 and was told it was a significant amount for my age. The doc even told Richard he expected that I would be having a knee replacement before he reitred (he's my age though so I assume that means I have about 20 years to go!!).
ANYWAY, I am now 75 pounds less in weight and so long as I take my one little anti-inflamatory a day I'm able to leap small mountains in a single bound!!
Some bariatric docs don't want you to take anti-inflamatories but luckily my doc feels the benefits outweighs the risk at this point! I also take an acid blocker with it and ALWAYS with milk to coat the tummy. So far so good!!
