Good Saturday monring, Kentucky!!
Are you all ready for the Artic Freeze that's coming our way this weekend? I don't know about your neck of the woods, but yesterday's temps here in Owensboro were BEAUTIFUL! (If you could get past the 35 mph winds!) I think the high here was 67. NICE! Now, tomorrow night...9 degrees?! WHAT?! My nose hairs are frozen now just thinking about it. LOL!
Anyone have any last minute shopping plans for this weekend? I've got all the major shopping done, just need the last minute stocking stuffers. My kids recieved a letter from Santa yesterday and that just got them pumped for the big night. (Parents...you can go to www.freelettersfromsantaclaus.com and print them out! Santa just left it in our mailbox with the regular mail.) My middle child is 3 this Christmas and I think he is going to be the most fun this year. He is SUPER excited about EVERYTHING...lights, has learned the traditional Christmas songs (and sings them all the time) and loves to do the advent calendar every night. I think he embodies Christmas spirit right now!
Okay, I've rambled long enough. Stay warm!

Kelly-
I don't mind the cold, but just wish if it is going to be that cold, could we please, please get snow on Christmas eve??? Yesterday here in E'town was lovely too, but the temps really dropped in the evening and I did not have a coat...silly me! I hope your nose hairs don't hurt too much when they freeze...ha ha ha.
I had not been in the mood to "do Christmas" until this past week. I finally got the tree, we put it up, shopped for the big holiday meal (we will have 10 for dinner that night) and mailed my cards. So, when it hit I got bit! Now, I need to finish up the shopping for our boy. He is older but still makes the holidays warm and wonderful. He helped me fill up my holiday baskets on the mantle this morning. And, though he doesn't want much I better get done.
I know you will have a wonderful holiday with a 3 kids in the house.
Have a glorious holiday!

Hi Kelly, although yesterday was a hoot (72 was the highest in Northern Ky), today is becoming bitter cold! We have an outdoor celebration (yes, you heard it right....outdoor) to attend tonight and I am hoping I don't freeze my katookas off. There is a bonfire, so it shouldn't be too bad. We are having a huge meal afterwords and I am finding quickly just how much my band will hold. The Santa card sounds really cool for people with younger kids...my youngest is 13 going on 30 so Christmas is a little different for me. We put up our pink techno fiber-optic tree LOL last night and with the economy the way it is she knows this Christmas is tough. When they get older it is harder to find "under tree presents" and remain on a decent budget ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/uhoh.gif)
Stay warm!!!!

I understand, Sonja! I have really scaled down the gifts this year. Thank goodness my kids didn't want any expensive gifts from Santa...Rosemary wanted a Scooter and Geoffrey (my 3 year old) wanted Gator Golf. Both were affordable. I think they are getting 2 more gifts from Mike and I and that's it. (Oh, and one new outfit...but I don't count clothes as their presents.) I've been shopping clearance since July! Geoff really likes the Cars movie, so he is getting several Cars stuff I found on clearance at Wal-mart in the summer. John is only 11 months, so he's only getting 2 things. Shoot, he'd be happy with a box of paper. LOL! (His birthday is right around the corner...January 4th!) I don't know how you parents with teenagers afford Christmas...with most requests being high-tech stuff, I'm sure.

Okay, talking about Christmas and kids...I have to confess; I am a mean mommy :o) When my now 23 year old son was about 9, and his sister was 7 (now 20); she believed in Santa and he did not. He was getting into those bratty almost a pre-teen ages and she was just SOOOOOO adamant there was a Santa and he was not. For weeks before Christmas, he told there was no Santa and she cried and told him otherwise. Christmas morning there was nothing under the tree for him. I can't believe I did that (but I did and it is HILARIOUS to talk about now). In his stocking was a note from Santa and a lump of coal (a big black rock). The note told him he should never tell little kids that "HE" does not exist and even if he (my son) did not believe he shouldn't ruin the dreams and imaginations of others. The note also told him he had to run outside, turn around ten times yelling "I believe in Christmas and I believe in Santa" and maybe his gifts would magically appear.
He did it, and when he came back in the presents were under the tree!
He NEVER told anyone there was no Santa again!

65 yesterday and 7 expected for Sunday night...welcome to Ky huh?
Although I dont have children, I love to hear everyone elses stories about how their kids react to Christmas, Santa and the whole nine yards. I can remember when I was little, I would always leave carrots for the reindeer along with milk & gingerbread cookies for the ol fat man. I really didnt care if Santa ate his but boy I sure got goosebumps when I saw that the carrots had been nibbled and chewed on! The scraps would be outside the front door of my house. It never dawned on me that there wasnt any footprints in the snow. (growing up in Detroit, there was ALWAYS snow on Christmas).
KElly, I hope you stay warm & bundle up....BURRRR!!!!!!

We always did the carrot and cookies too! I do it as well with my kids. My Mom also use to use flour and make footprints from the front door to the tree. (We didn't have a fireplace growing up in FL.)
Christmas traditions are GREAT! I have also started a tradition that every year, on Christmas eve, I take a picture of my kiddos in front of the tree in their PJ's. It's great to see them grow every year. I also buy a family ornament every year. Started that tradition when Mike and I got married. I personalize it with our names and the year. My daughter had fun asking, "Where's Geoff's name on this one?" And I said, "He wasn't born yet." LOL!
